Little boys need this type of physical activity to build confidence, it’s a natural thing. Nowadays, there’s little physical interaction or “rough housing” between boys anymore because everyone is too sensitive. This is one of the reasons the younger generation is so soft.

As a BJJ coach, I seriously hope parents get their kids involved in some form of martial arts, whether is wrestling (which I’d recommend first), BJJ, Boxing, anything, it’s not just for the self defense. There’s genuinely something special about being in a training room that when you have like minded people working together, learning something together really helps instill confidence and a beautiful sense of self awareness that most people lack.

Great job dad! Wrestling is a fantastic direction to go when your boy is being bullied. Or, just in general, a great way for boys to learn that it’s not scary to be physical with another guy and that the human body can take quite a tossing around and bit of getting banged up before any real damage is done. It instills discipline, hard work, teaches techniques that will serve him well in defense situations and last him a lifetime. As a guy that has spent a large portion of my life grappling…you’ve done your boy a huge service, sir.
