His Name Was Nikola Tesla | Hadar Lazar | TEDxUChicago
A physicist and storyteller, Hadar performs an original piece on the TEDx stage about the inventor and visionary Nikola Tesla. Describing her inspiration for the piece, she writes: "His influence is so grand that we grew immune to it, the way one grows accustomed to ever-present background noise. His incredibly unique story suggests that perhaps moving forward needs no cause; 'forward' is the cause." The need, she says, is to "take the next step."
Hadar Lazar likes stories.
As a third-year physics major at the University of Chicago, Hadar conducts particle physics research at both UChicago and Princeton in an attempt to trace the elusive plot of our universe. She further enjoys diving into stories through other media, including performing in University Theater and writing. She is also committed to helping provide a platform for other people's art as an editor of student magazine Sliced Bread and the host of its literary podcast, The Bread Beat.
Hadar's interest in both art and science stems from a belief that reasoning or meaning can be unveiled by investigating what sometimes presents itself as chaos.

AJ AY one of the men... Tesla didn’t come up with everything in a vacuum - he learnt from other men, experimented, made mistakes, borrowed ideas from others and improved upon them. He was not a one man army by any stretch. The first AC line was built in Italy in 1884, with the first operative line put into service in Rome the next year. Tesla certainly helped the advancement of AC transmission, but it would’ve happened without him.

If someone says this guy great than Tesla i remind his quote: " Let the future tell the truth, and evaluate each one according to his work and accomplishments. The present is theirs; the future, for which I have really worked, is mine." During my school days there was entire chapter on Thomas Edison no mention of tesla But in college during physics lecture i came across unit Tesla thats it and during my engineering What she said is absolutely right about Tesla till this day i realized how entire generations are brainwashed very few people know how Tesla is legend but for most sheepeople Edison was great During Elon musk interview when he said edision was great , i feel really bad despite his company name Tesla he knows what Tesla contribution is why he choose Edison ...? I can't digest that fact till this day

Amazing! I stumbled upon this vid when "youtube-ing" nikola tesla vids. I realized immediately this remarkable young woman had been a customer over the weekend at my booth at an art show in UC neighborhood. We had discussed her upcoming assignment at CERN and I found her to be an engaging young woman. Had I known she was a Nikola Tesla fan, I would have never have let her leave the booth...:-) This vid added fullness to the impression she left with me. All the best to her in the future! And Hadar - (I remembered...:-) if you read this - It's all in the loops, even THEY loop...:-)
This had 20 thousand views when i last saw it...her way of telling the story captivated me, and she has a relaxing voice

Is unfortunate that Edison 'won' over Tesla. But given that Edison was a business man and Tesla was trying to create free energy for all people... It's no surprise that his funding was removed, ruining him. Edison won because of money, seriously stunting the growth of humanity in the process. Greed and fear. It motivates us (humanity) and hinders us at the same time.

That is some amazing public speaking, Tesla was a legendary inventor but sadly not a capitalist who could have built an empire out of his inventions and spread his ideas like wildfire across the globe, he could have used all his wealth into catalysing the process of innovation and do so much more. I love the guy, he made a lot of sacrifices, but there is no sense in dying penniless and alone. Great artist ship, great minds bring godly gems to the layman, please share your gifts with the world, capitalise on them and use that momentum to change the world further. Don't make Tesla's mistakes and don't make Edison's mistakes of being arrogant. And if you must make mistakes and fail, fail fast, because all you have is just one life. Peace, love and innovation to you.
Thanks Hadar. I have been professing Nikola since 2008 when i read the war of currents. I work on Water as future fuel. Nice speech...
In early childhood I read about Edison and that brought me to Tesla. At that time I had no knowledge of what those inventions were but only a couple of years later I came across them in my Physics book. Since I knew about Tesla a lot more than any other of my classmate, I was quick to discard Edison in front of my teacher. To which I was retaliated with "You must respect Scientists". I kept mum only hoping that world will one day realise who Tesla was. Now I'm at peace with younger generation knowing a lot more about Tesla.
