I still wish Iorek had those metal cuffs on his forearms because one it would protect his arms so he can walk and use his claws and two cuffs are cool

thank GOD they're making a series out of it it's a shame how the movie failed just because people didnt like the idea of the church being the antagonist. As if that wasn't the case in hundreds of other movies

I just randomly got recommended this video and I've heard about The Golden Compass before which is what this show is based off of but I've never seen the movie or this show, nor have I read the books. I started watching season 1 of the show and lorek has become my favorite character. I'm currently halfway through season 3 right now, but damn that bear fight in season 1 was insane and I also was very upset when Roger died. I also really think the actors who play Lyra and Will are excellent.

Lin Manuel Miranda is so ridiculously awesome in this show. He is on par with Uncle Iroh when it comes to TV show uncles/mentors. They should force Pullman to write an entire series just about him and make a spinoff. Not just the short story he wrote, but something proper. Scoresbee is such a great character and criminally underused in the trilogy.

Those two guys that got swatted aside by Iorek's armored head are probably dead or dying. It's no exaggeration to say their ribs would have shattered from a single hit. Polar bear strength beggars belief.

The movie is nothing to do with the BBC TV series. This 3-season series is based on British author Phillip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy. The first book in the series is actually called “Northern Lights”, but rather like with HP Philosopher’s Stone was released as “Sorcerer’s Stone” for the US market, Northern Lights was changed to “The Golden Compass”.

His Dark Materials is a TV show that aired on BBC between 2019-2022. There are 3 seasons in the show and it's based on the book series His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman. The clip in this video is from the first season of the show which is based on the first book in the "His Dark Materials" series called The Golden Compass. Also this bear is the same character as the one from the 2007 movie.

He toyed so long with him, I doubt he was going to kill him. And what about these doofies shooting at his armor and not at his open flesh? Movies and series these days are so stupid.

@@TheLogicalThinker2113 Combination of box office failure and not adapting the full ending of the book, meaning they probably couldn't have adapted the sequel even if they wanted. TL;DR the first book continues well past Lyra sailing off to find her father, and there's a pretty gamechanging ending that is integral to the plot of the sequels, so adapting the next book would be a little difficult since they didn't cover that part. I highly recommend the book series - His Dark Materials is the name of the full trilogy and the first book (the one the movie adapted) is Northern Lights. They were hands-down one of my favourite series as a kid and I still love them just as much now. The movie plot is by and large the same as the first book, barring having to condense it down to fit the runtime, but you miss out on a lot of the finer details (and the ending). I actually got into the series the same way as you - movie first, then finding the books. (I'm not roasting the movie btw, I love it very much!) If you can't get your hands on a copy of the book, or just want to check it out, the BBC/HBO show is a fantastic adaptation. The world and characters are wonderfully portrayed, and I've gotten several friends and relatives to watch it (most of them have only seen the movie) and they're enjoying it just as much as I am. Sorry for rambling, I hope I managed to clear things up somewhat!

The panserbjørns back in 2007 were litterally made by the same vfx company that made the Coca Cola bears, Rythm and Hues. The animals in His Dark Materials are on a completely different level, have you seen some of the vfx tests? They litterally look like real animals

Why did all the soldiers need to reload after 1 shot? Those obviously weren't single-shot guns. Was their leader a Democrat who mandated people can only load one bullet at a time?
