James Mcavoy is a fantastic actor, but a shit choice for Asriel. Lyra is meant to be terrified of him yet especially in the early scenes, he had about as much gravitas as a Blue Peter presenter.

I know it's been delayed by Covid, but any idea when the second series is due? Agree about James Mcavoy also. Can't imagine him trecking across Arctic wastes researching dust. A really good actor but poor choice for this part.

So I wasn’t the only one who associated the two

It seems that only Lin knows what exactly Dust is, the other two haven't apparently read the whole source material. Anyway, when I first read that Lin would play Mr. Scoresby (one of my favourite characters in the books), I didn't think this was a good pick as I imaged Mr. Scoresby to be a rather older polite cowboy, more like a grandfather figure. But Lin-Manuel's interpretation of Mr. Scoresby is really good, I enjoyed the character twist and how he approached the character. Well done, Lin-Manuel.

Dafne is grew up so fast.... she was amazing in Logan 👌👌 eagerly waiting to see her again!!

The series made me fell in love with Ruth Wilson sooooooo bad!! I adore this woman, her smile and her talent...

It's so weird seeing Dafne looking so gorgeous and grown up. It feels only like yesterday when she was an 11-year-old goofball having the time of her life on the set of Logan.

They are all so good in it. Ruth Wilson's performance and that character are amazing. So fascinating.

The fact that Lin Manuel Miranda plays in my favorite childhood books bring me so much joy, it's just makes me so dam happy

I love how they know the story and respect the books. Great casting

I love how they really appreciate the intent of the source material. I love it when actors really get in the head space of the characters and the writers! Can’t wait to see more of it. These were my favorite books I’m so glad HBO will work on this they will do it justice

I just realized when Lin-Manuel Miranda mentioned Mary Poppins, that Ruth Wilson was also part of a film that paid homage to the story of Mary Poppins when she played Margaret Goff in “Saving Mr. Banks”. Looks like these two actors were connected in a way even before they started acting together...

Dafne started her career in a huge movie with one of the biggest actors in Hollywood Hugh Jackman in Logan. . She is now working for HBO in this amazing series and she is only 15 years old. She is a badass and an inspiration to work hard anything is possible

The most important part for me in this lovely interview was Lin saying: "We have so much time to tell the story. And we get to go so deep on all characters you love and the world you love and really expand in places that gives the story time to breathe" PERFECT!!!!! ♥♥♥

I read all the books years ago in my early teens when I was in school and I loved and enjoyed them so much, they were my favourite books! I can't remember every single detail in the books as it has been quite some years but I do remember that I enjoyed them so much that they were my favourite (I may read them again to remind myself properly). Phillip Pullman is an amazing author and the cast chosen are amazing! But I LOVE this series too and can't wait to see the next upcoming episodes! I hope at least all these books will be turned into the series (episodes) and maybe even more! :D

I did hear that line in In The Heights and I did think about Will and Lyra in book 3 and the fact Lin is a huge fan and was inspired by the books make it even better.

This series might as well turn in to one of my fav.

I’ve read most of the books and I’ve watched the 2 seasons that have been released and I actually prefer the TV show to the book and a lot of that is actually down to the cast and the dæmons. I love the way they portray this. I can’t wait for the 3rd series. This seems like a lovely cast and Dafne Keen and Lin-Manuel Miranda are especially good. I also like the boy who plays Roger. 😭

I had no idea "When the Sun Goes Down" is based on the book!

I think the way I understood Dust was that it was symbolic of maturity and knowledge - like eating the apple of Eden, a sin but knowledge which comes to you when you mature. The Magisterium don’t like Dust because knowledge means that the people won’t be ignorant, and thus harder to control

I came here for dafne keen feeling very happy to see beautiful grown girl from Logan movie wonderful amazing acting love this cute girl.

What thrills me about this production is that even the actors seem to be so well-versed in the source material. I really hope they wont flunk it up in later seasons like GOT did. But all I have seen from this show so far is very promising! Can't wait for it to air.

I really love Mrs Coulter in this show!

'Word is that Mrs. Coulter is a horrible, horible mean person n the book'. 'Oh, misunderstood' xD Oh I like it that we'll get to know her a bit more. I am curious^^ I wanna dig deeper as to why she is so horrible. That is exactly what draws me so much to this story, the relationship between human and daemon. It is so deep and complex and intimate. It is learning about yourself and loving yourself. It is very, very beautiful and oh so important! And teh contrast between Lyra with Pan and COulter with her Dae is very symbolic. If you don't love or take care of your daemon, you have a problem with yourself. You don't like/love yourself or loath yourself like she stated. I am a sucker for symbolismn :3 I think I'm gonna love that most too, the more time the series has to really dive into details of teh books. So much happens there and it's impossible to put that in a movie. 8 hour per book? That is awesome! 8D Darker than the movie? Nice! :D

@@ricardosoto5770 I dont know.. But they said they would dive deeper into the character and why she acts like she acts. So it is possible.. Who knows.. Just diving deeper into the character is already cool to look forward to^^

I have not read the books but from what I gleaned from the first two seasons, I believe Dust to be awareness, not necessarily sin, whether it's 'good' or 'bad'.

Yep, that's it, that's the plot. You nailed it. The fundamental conflict between the characters is around whether they believe this "awareness" to be inherently a bad thing (i.e. sin), or whether the concept of sin itself is actually bad or even in any way meaningful.

Ms. Keen is 15? Oh WOW. So cute. Just started HDM and didn't know the book even existed. I must read now . Looks like it will be interesting. Love the cast.
