And donated estimated 200 mill in charities. Mainly thru his Marshall Mathers Foundation, to help under privileged kids in & around Detroit . Plus, a lot to Flint, was also one of 1st ones to donate to Manchester bombing victims& even 150k to Charlemagnes charity. Music is an art form.. actions speak louder than words...

I was listening to an interview with this dj who was on a big 4 act tour with Eminem back in 2005 and they were talking about hooking up with dozens if not hundreds of girls at the shows all year long. When the interviewer asked if Eminem ever joined them with these girls, he said, "as soon as the show was over, he would sign autographs for an hour, hop on his private jet to go back home to see his daughter, then two days later he would fly to the next show, and repeat the process. He was all about his daughter. It's all he talked about, it's all he was about."

I don't think it was shots fired at Kim really. Eminem just tells the story on how it was. I guess it can be heard differently but personally I think he's just saying what happened. Em and Kim were definitely in a toxic relationship. Hailie is his only daughter by blood. He adopted Lainey which is Kim's sister's child, and Whitney which Kim had from another relationship.

I cried through this whole video. When I was little, my dad and me would listen to Eminem together, and he told me that this was his song to me. I didn't really understand why at the time, I just liked the melody. After a rocky childhood, largely because of my dad, and for a long time resenting him for it and eventually forgiving him, when I listen to this song now I understand why he said it was his song to me. My parents were going through so much, and he was working 60-80 hours a week just to make sure we had a good life. I know now he didn't want to do the things he did, he just didn't know how to handle everything. So listening to this as an adult, almost every word sounds like it's straight from my dad's mouth. When he wakes up I'm gonna give him a hug and tell him I love him, while he's still here. If anyone reads this, and you're lucky like me to still have the people who raised you alive, let them know how much you love them, because tomorrow isn't guaranteed, and you might not get a second chance.

Beautiful imo is Em’s best singing chorus, one of his songs he genuinely put a lot of emotion into and made it relatable

The amount of respect I have for em as a man never mind a rapper. He looked after 3 kids and also took in his younger brother. Only one of 3 kids is connected by blood, the others are Kim and Kim’s sisters kids

So as far as the shots at Kim go, this is probably the kindest he's ever been to her. He's written a few songs where he trashes her. In this one though, I actually felt like he was trying to put another side of her out there. He mentioned her drug abuse, but it wasn't included for shock value or specifically to diss her, I think he was trying to backtrack a little bit from all the horrible shit he'd said about her in past songs, wanting his daughter to have a better image of her, as flawed as she may be.

The ending of 8 Mile covers it too. He's so open about his life, no one can really weaponize it in a diss track.If you're willing to diss yourself, what can anyone say worse than you've already said? But the best part is it makes him relatable and humble. Everyone can root for the dad trying his best to provide for his kids while making huge sacrifices and hard decisions.

Thanks for this, one of Em's most emotional songs and one of my favorite for over 2 decades.. Hits that much harder when you have kid of your own.... So Hailey is his own biological daughter. Alaina (Lainey) is Kim's twin sister's daughter and now his oldest daughter who he adopted due to her mom's inability to take care of her due to drug addictions. Whitney Scott is his third and youngest daughter of his ex-wife with her partner Eric Hatter who he also adopted. He also adopted his half brother Nate who is 16 years younger to him and helped raise him as well.. No matter what people say about Em, no one can question his loyalty and love for all his kids if people actually know his back story. Thanks and all the best

Revival is hugely underrated as a whole.

The way he can truly tell a story while keeping a rhyme scheme and no lines that deviate from the story shows why Em is the goat. All other rappers have to put a line or two in that don’t relate to keep the rhyme going

The video make everything so real.. yet even he saying all the stuff about Kim, the video shows a lot of precious moment with her and the kids! as for EM i take my hat for him, taking in Aleina and later Whitney is the "Extra mile" that make him a Good Man. Flawless track!!!

I’ve always felt this was Em’s most honest songs ever. Yeah, he dissed Kim (possibly deservedly so) but he also brought up his own failings. He’s basically saying, “Hey, Hailey and Lanie, I love you girls and I’ve done the best I knew how to raise you better than I was raised. I made some big mistakes, but never forget that I’ll always have your backs.” All in all, some lucky little girls there. ❤️

Hearing this song at 32 is different. I was 15 when it came up.

I think one of the really underated things about this song is how great it is at being a comfort to children experiencing divorce or family drama or a single parent, to remind them that their parents still love them, and this was never the plan, but helping them deal with that situation and move forward in a healthy way.

Mockingbird and When I'm Gone are and probably always will be my 2 favorite Em songs. It's crazy to me how some people lump Mockingbird in with the less good and even bad tracks on Encore.
