It’s true to the character. He’s a possessive madman. He’s got issues. The thought of seeing Ning’er leave sends him over the edge. She is the only woman who’s on his level, who’s saved his life twice, and who both calms his anxiety and stirs his heart. He’s pulling out all the stops to “reason” with her so she won’t go. Not a guy one would want in real life, too dysfunctional and toxic. Too emotionally draining. But, it certainly makes for a gripping drama. Outstanding acting. Sadly, some controlling guys really are like this, maybe not to this extent exactly. But, the scene rings true. Outstanding writing.
