I remember when I was a kid I always thought that hiruzen was just a weak old man , that was until I saw this battle,my mind was blown

i used to always think hiruzen was some random chief until he started spamming all types of jutsus lol . I wish naruto would have also learnt different types of jutsus instead of just using rassengans 😭

I started to watch Naruto in 2009 and I was so mind blow whit this incredible universe that Kishimoto has built, the characters names, the technics, the arcs... They are so ingrained in my mind, like no other anime I've ever seen. It's a shame what Shippuden turned out to be and I don't know how people can watch Boruto. Unfortunately more than a story, Naruto became a brand...

​@@mok7281 Shippuden neglected a lot of characters we learned to appreciate in the classic; Kishimoto didn't tell the story the way he intended nor at his pace because of pressure from the studio, an example: he wanted to develop Hidan's religion, but to appease fans' desires to see Sasuke fast, he never did; I don't like the overpowered and ass-pull powers. In the end, Shippuden was very vanilla, there was a war, but almost no main characters had major reprisals. Because of the worldwide phenom that Naruto became, the story was dragged and filled whit bs, I’m not even surprised that it had a sequel whit the supposed kids of the shinobis we knew. Money talks…

@@betinhoeur yes I agree with you, there where so many characters it was hard to develop them all it would take time. And I stopped watching shippuden in 2010 after pain arc and only recently finished it. Until pain arc it was really good in my opinion. After that the only thing I really enjoyed was Madara. Edit There where so many beautifull stories they could have gone into after shippuden, but they went for Boruto to keep it casual and popular.

​@@betinhoeurthose characters became OP in the Naruto Series so there's no point seeing them in Shippuden since Shippuden is based on the rise and fall of the Akatsuki..

prior to this arc I thought hiruzen was just some frail old man but then he fended off orochimaru, tobirama and hashirama and he was spamming every type of jutsu which is incredible.

after all these years i still have no idea why exactly orochimaru plotted the konoha invasion

Here reanimated hashirama and tobirama only had 20% of their real power , thus orochimaru could fully control them. But war arc reanimations got 90-100% of their full power.

Hiruzen was lucky Minato used the Reaper Death Seal early on. Otherwise, Minato would've killed Hiruzen for not only him being the Yellow Flash, but he would also kill Hiruzen for mistreating Naruto.

The stakes were so much more compelling back then because the power levels were more grounded

I didnt knew fedelobo appear in this arc, so coool, so greeat!

Bare a few things in mind: • Orochimaru has just killed the Kazekage to get in close to the Hokage, which means (unless he got super lucky and snuck up on 3 _HIGHLY_ trained ninja without anyone realizing), this dude took out a gold user in the "sand-style" of combat (a particle style, also shared with metals), and then went on to do all of this. Though he didn't destroy the leaf, he's 2 for 2 on taking out Kage! • While Orochimaru seemed to have gotten the necessary remains to bring back Minato, I don't know if Hiruzen caused it to fail (I remember him being like, "If I let that 3rd coffin open, _it's over!"),_ or if it failed because Minato has his spirit sealed inside of his son (and how crazy would that have been, for Naruto to suddenly start feeling ill or start leaking nine-tails chakra, because his father was being pulled by the Jutsu, even if it had no chance of success because Minato's was the stronger seal)

Edo Tensei only allows you to summon souls from the Pure World. Souls that are sealed (like the 4th Hokage's at the time) can't be summoned. Orochimaru just didn't know that the 4th was sealed at the time.

My god look at the animation at the time, the framing, the choreography, the fluidity. I know Shippuden had some clean ass fights like Kakashi vs Obito but the way the POVs are here are legit so unique. Naruto's art direction was much better than Shippuden's imo.

Yeah, but when Kishimoto was writing the story, he hasn't thought that deep yet. Hiruzen was more worried about Minato than the brothers. Later on it turns out Minato was the weakest and had the 9 tails cloak to even bring him up to par.

@@Forlorn_Tetrahedron watch again Shinobi war arc,to Edo Prev hokages that being sealed in soul reaper belly,orochimaru need to undo the seal using soul reaper mask and release them,so when orochimaru fighting hiruzen,he can't Edo Minato since Minato is being sealed along with half kyubi inside soul reaper seal,the same reason why Kabuto can't Edo any hokages for his pion in Shinobi war arc

@@wilburweright1113 Okay, so we were both right it seams. I read up on it again and you were partially right. Minato was still in the reaper's stomach, but it was Minato in that coffin. However it wasn't Hiruzen that stopped him from being revived through edo tensei. The technique didn't work because the reaper death seal prevented Minato's soul from escaping and being revived.

The animw really messed up by deciding to not give edo tensei black eyes and then later suddenly decide to give them it. And dont even tro to whiteknight with some imperfect edo tensei bullcrap bc in the manga their eyes are black here too

Yeah, its just that the design was changed in Shippuden...I guess you could also say that another reason might be that Orochimaru's reanimation jutsu wasn't perfected.

It just feels more grounded ,they still are using hand signs and Taijutsu is still very much present.Also chakra is more limited ,so they are all more resourcefull.The show is also way less focused on Naruto and Sasuke solely and many side characters have time to shine.Also, and this is just my personal opinion ,but at this time , Orochimaru was a way Better villain than Madara or Obito ever were ,and the soundtrack just goes way harder.

Early edo tensei, remember when lord orochimaru fight sasori and deidara, it still weak version. And the 3rd was too old, at the weakest.
