This was the first Maiden song I ever heard, I was about 5 and loved the music, but the middle bit scared me. 😆 Now, 40 years later, I still love IM.
Iron Maiden has many, many brilliant, and awesome songs. Their music never gets old.

You can really tell that by the mix of age groups in the more recent concerts as oppose to the earlier ones. Timeless classics loved by all new comers, as just proved by yer man.
It's important to know that Steve Harris (bassist and primary song writer) is a huge reader of history books. He takes great people and events from history, and classic fiction and turns them into epic metal songs. This is a huge poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge in the late 1790's. They also do Alexander the Great, the Charge of the Light Brigade, Paschendale, all accounts of History. Murder in the Rue Morgue is Edgar Allen Poe. The Flight of Icarus is famous Greek Mythology. It really brings life to the original stories, and to their songs. Dig deeper. These guys love bars and flow.
This is REAL music, played by talented musicians. No pitch correct, no autotune, no drum machines.

All they do in hip hop is sample real artists’ creations.
The only band cool enough to wear their own merch lol. Seen them live 3 times, the rest of this DVD is just as good! They're pretty much the only band I would recommend the live versions over the album versions every time for, even if you don't catch the lyrics the first time.

Going to see them next month for the 15th time. Never tire of them, each time is better than the previous. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I've seen lots of reactions to this song, but I love yours the most. The way you paused and were amazed by Nico's drum kit and just how much you loved Bruce's singing was really fun to watch!
Hey Lil J, man I’m an Iron maiden super fan, ime from England and I’ve seen them live 16 times since 2006. I have Iron maiden tattoos so it’s safe to say I’m obsessed. I remember my friend in high school first gave me one of their albums to listen to in 2005 and from the first listen it completely changed my life. I love watching your Iron maiden reactions man, it gives me a huge smile on my face as it reminds me how fucking awesome it was to discover them for the first time! All the best man, looking forward to the next one. 🤘

This is another literature lesson. This based on a poem written in 1799 by Samuel Coleridge. This a great story, check out the lyrics as well. I have not missed a tour since 1982.

Had to read the Coleridge poem in 9th grade English class.
Maiden got tons more bangers, there first 8 albums are all fire, you could check these out for now , Aces high - 2 Minutes to Midnight - 22 Acacia Avenue - Revelations - Where Eagles Dare- Caught Somewhere In Time- The Duelist- To Tame a land- Children of the Damned- The Prisoner- Stranger in a Stranger land - The Number of the Beast- Moonchild - The Prophecy- Alexander the Great- Hallowed be thy Name - Powerslave - Killers - Murders in the Rue Morgue- Innocent Exile- Strange World- Total Eclipse- Wasting Love- No Prayer for the Dying- Back in the Village- Losfer words - Flash of the Blade- the Evil that Men do- Seventh son of a Seventh son- Still Life
Arguably the best live band ever. It doesn't matter whether there are 10,000 people in the audience or 100,000 - they bring the same level of intensity and their quality control in live performances is unmatched. For two more virtuoso live performances, check out The Clansman (from Rock In Rio) and The Talisman (Ev Vivo!)

Just saw them last month in Chicago. Still plenty of energy left. And the stage designs are bigger and better.
These guys wrote this song in their early 20s. Thats mindblowing.
Thank you for your review of Maiden and your enthusiasm!
I've been going to Maiden concerts since the 80's. I'm going to be 55 this month and I'm still going to Maiden concerts. My all time favourite band. Up The Irons!
Love your enthusiasm . Check out Paschendale from the Death on the Road DVD. It's about a battle from WW1. Very theatrical performance. Up the Irons!
I was at that show at the long beach arena in long beach California back in 1984 I was 15 and the show was so amazing we went back the next night and bought scalper tickets, and the show was even better different set list and all, I will turn 55 this July and just seen them for the umpteenth time at the pond in Anaheim California back in April 22, tickets were $200.00 ,it was well worth it, and they sounded amazing ..............UP THE IRONS........................
His energy is what we were like as teenagers after we bought these albums and went to our friend's house to listen together with. If it was on cassette we'd ofter stop and rewind. First time I saw them was World Slavery Tour in the 9th grade. Parents used to drive me from Orlando to Lakeland to see my concerts. Drop me off and they'd go to a movie. Looking back I had pretty cool folks. Mom- " They aint no Chet Atkins"
Talisman live is amazing mate, Up The Irons!
This song is essentially an adaptation of an 18th century English poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, during the Age of Discovery, of the same name. Interestingly 'Rime' is both an old form of the modern 'Rhyme', but also the word for a 'coating of ice'. It is the story of a mariner that returns from a long journey to Antarctica {although this point is not explicitly made] and back to England, wherein all the crew cept him alone died of thirst at sea, ostensibly for killing the Albatross (an ancient symbol of good luck to sailors), and upon return he is doomed to retell his story to all who will listen to teach them a lesson. It is a little esoteric, but, it is also a masterpiece. The song includes several lines and whole verses [particularly the spoken word narration in the middle] from the original poem. If you know the poem, you can follow along with the story, and better understand some of the allusions [such as the Albatross] and it takes on even more depth of meaning. I could write an essay, but others could better. Up The Irons
The coolest thing is that Bruce, the singer, is the pilot of the plane! 😊
The only concert I've been to where the drummer throws the heads (skins) from his drums into the crowd. The guy about 5 dudes down from me caught on. It was signed. Wicked.
Hey, just started watching you today. I saw your video reacting to The Dance of Death, one of my favs! Love your reaction! It’s great seeing people react to Iron Maiden and complimenting them. They are amazing!! I’ve been a fan ever since I was born in 2004, I’m 18 now and saw them recently in my hometown El Paso, TX (September 11th, 2022). You just earned a new sub and can’t wait to see more reactions of you listening to Iron Maiden! ☺️ By the way, I recommend you watching “When the Wild Wind Blows (en vivo)”. It was emotional for me and I think you’ll like it!

I love seeing or hearing young people talking enthusiastically or liking the music I'm listening to! I am 55 years old, I grew up with Maiden, they have accompanied me all my life with their music, and I am grateful to them for that! I saw them live last summer in Athens, and it was unforgettable! P.S.: And for me, "When the Wild Wind Blows" is one of their best songs, as well as "For The Greater Good Of God"! Up the Irons! 🤘🏻

@@konstantinosarvanitidis3324 I appreciate that so much!! You should thank my dad for playing their songs when I was a baby, he too is also around his 50s. Iron Maiden has also grown up with me and got me through some hard times, I was able to see them 5 times since I first went to their concert in 2010 (I was around 5 or 6 years old) and it was amazing. 😁 When the wild wind blows and For the Greater Good of God are one of my favorite songs!! Hopefully we’ll get some reactions of it soon!!

@@celesteponce2261 Omg!! 😁 it’s great to find people my age that love Iron Maiden as well!! It’s very rare to even find people that like them either way because they have different taste in music, but in the end, us fans are huge family from all over the world, “We’re Blood Brothers” technically and I’m proud of it!! ☺️
The greatest bands in my lifetime of metal (since 1982) were the ones that can tell a story with their music. Maiden, Metallica, Nightwish and the godfather of metal Ronnie James Dio (Rainbow, Black Sabbath and solo).
Welcome to the wonderful world of Iron Maiden! It's good that you've already heard a studio track and live tracks. Although the studio version will give a clearer version of the song, there truly isn't anything like watching them live. I'm an old school fan and have been to many of their shows. Starting back in 1983, Beast on the Road until their latest, Legacy of the Beast. You will get a great history lesson as well as current events when listening to this band. Your reactions are very refreshing to see and keep up the great work. UP THE IRONS! 🤘🏽🤘🏽
It's so fun to watch how you can't control your excitment, when listening to Iron Maiden. You are now part of the family, dude. Whereever you go, if you meet Iron Maiden fans, know, you and them are Blood Brothers. That said, you should really check out Blood Brothers song from Iron Maiden (En Vivo! version). You will understand why you are one of us now. Plus you will experience one of the best guitar solos ever played.
Best band I've ever seen live. Multiple times. Great musicianship, vocals, and production.
Love your Iron Maiden reactions man! awesome!!
First time I've seen one of your vids bro, that was great, subbed 😃
Bear in mind, at the time of this performance they had already been performing for over 30 years, and are still touring
My, first video listening to your channel and breakdowns, happy I found, I totally relate to what you're saying and appreciate your perspective on the song, def gonna check out more songs👍 Iron Maiden ,as big as they are,are underutilized by music lovers the world over....
The first time I heard this song, in 1985, I couldn't believe it. One of the greatest compositions in the history of rock.
Iron Maiden - fear of the dark live @ rock in Rio 2001 Or the Clansman live @rock in Rio 2001
Mindblowing is sn appropriate way to describe Iron Maiden's live shows. I saw them last weekend for the fourth time and it really was incredible
I was there that night. Never thought I would see them do Mariner like. Awesome. I seen them many times they are always great. One of the best life bands ever.
this performance is one of the best of this song.
Welcome to my Metalworld for more than 40 years - i'm 54 years old and love this music , the Best Music on this Planet

Good stuff brother, great reactions
I love how you get giddy like a little kid discovering a new toy. This is real music, my friend.
Saw them loads of times!! Effing brilliant
Love your true excitement apon hearing for the 1st time like I did many years ago. Remember these songs are from a long time ago, timeless my friend. I'm 64 and lived it. You can't go wrong with Pink Floyd Dark side of the moon, wish you were here. A great place to start then expand from there 1st and Led Zeppelin Since I've been Loving You, Immigrant Song. No song is bad you might start with Stairway to heaven. Enjoy the trip I'll be with you enjoying your journey of a lifetime. ✌️
I'm glad to see (hear?) that Nico really let's his hair down in this live performance. That's something I want to see more often. Cheers Nico!
U r a pleasure to watch. Metal v Rap v hip hop
Oh and just in case you didn't know the vocalist (Bruce Dickinson) also flies their jet he is a pilot. check Ed Force One on YT
Imagine turning a centuries old poem into an epic song!
I have seen them 17 times, last time being 2 weeks in Greensboro.. IRON MAIDEN, is the greatest band on Earth
Iron Maiden is amazing live saw them in 2008. I was 8 rows from the stage
Shine on you crazy diamond by pink Floyd. Full song . Brilliant
master piece in deed....UP THE IRONS!!!!
Up the Irons! 🤘🏻
That's a Nicko McBrain drum set 🥁🔥 Up the Irons!
Lil J, You nailed it bro. The best band ever. I'm 52, I seen them when I was 14 in high school. 1984. I left that concert with my mind blown. You cannot compare the energy from these 70 year olds. But, You know ur shit man. It pleases me that you feel the power of Maiden. Every fan knows every lyric. Go buy their DVD Iron Maiden 666 tour. Bruce ,the singer is the pilot of their own jet. It's an amazing 2 hour story that will officially change your mind of music.
Many are getting used to it being live but man they're good, probably one of the best out there and they aren't young anymore.
Great reaction thanks 🇨🇷
It's based on a poem written by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Called The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
Coleridge's poetry in stupendous revisits through the hands of these Metal Gods .Absolutely epic (and brilliant😉) UP the Irons 🤘
Bruce, the singer, is also the pilot.
You wanna check out how old they all are and they still rock like that,up the irons 🤟
And the wedding guest’s a sad and wiser man. That single line….. it’s too close to home.
Good work LIL
FEAR OF THE DARK
All of them are very intelligent. Singer Bruce Dickenson is a commercial airline pilot, and fencing (sword) champion. Nikko McBrain has a degree in engineering. They all play football (soccer) Dave Murry and Nikko are both avid golf players. Janick (Yanik) Gers has a degree in Humanities. Steve Harris was aspiring to be a professional soccer player and was scouted by the West Ham United professional soccer team before starting his music career
Welcome to the school of heavy metal.
It´s virtually impossible to choose the best Iron Maiden song
I suggest you To Tame A Land, There's a Bruce Dickinson part in this song we can define Proto-Rap (sadly never played this song live)
Yes, it goes on the ride threw Maiden! Maybe songs: When the wild wind blows, live - en vivo Aces high, live rock in rio 19 or 22. 19 the first song, 22 the last song of the concert. I saw book of souls tour in Tampa. I've seen them probably a dozen times and always the same energy
you talk about feeling the energy of bruces performance go to a livw concert and feel the power of metal there is nothing like it I personally have been to gigs on 3 continents the energy and feel from the band and the crowd is awesome
Niko the drummer has an 8 piece set In Steve Harris' words "he's an octopus"
I suggest "The Trooper" next. great technical guitar track
If you like Maiden you gotta check out Judas Priest! Try "Better by You, Better Than Me" or "Island of Domination"! Also check out Megadeth! "Wake up Dead" or "Holy Wars...", "Domination" + "Primal Concrete Sledge" by Pantera (live in Moscow), and "Swim to the Moon" by Between the Buried and Me.
You can find videos on Nicko's drum sets, there have been some nice ones
Such a Power yessssssss 😃
There's a good recent video of Nikko going over his whole drumkit, cymbals & drum-wrap art
pure joy
Gotta do some metallica master of puppets. damage inc one. Youll love them songs bro and im a hip hop head

I was 12 in 80 and as an avowed aficionado of the old school, took an instant dislike to upstart 'Rap' ... and too old to change now
Maiden is my favorite band, cuz i can clearly hear the bass
If you like Bruce's voice....listen to the first three or four studio albums with him. It raises the bar a lot. When it comes to song, 999 times of a thousand, live recordings are sub-quality. You go listen to number of the beast studio. THAT'S a mighty voice.
🤘🤘🤘welcome to the family
See, Helloween how many tears, it is cool too
Got my first album for xmas of 1986. So grateful to have had this bad to grow up with, and watch the "kids" enjoy the same songs 30+ years later... but still waiting for a Steve Harris/Jay-Z joint...
Jannick was such a great addition to the band
First time I saw them 1988, at their donnington warm up gig….400, the three days 80000
I seen Iron Maiden 15 times people ask why, you see nearly same songs, to me it's not just the songs, it's the people you meet at the gigs,
You need to read the rime of the ancient mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge to conceptualise the depth of Iron Maiden‘s research and vocals
You need to do Pink Floyd sometime soon!!! I am a fan of metal but Floyd is one of the kings! Also check out RUSH from Canada and their song Tom Sawyer soon. Cheers from Canada :)
