For real everything that band does there’s a reason for it. Way more intelligent than people give them credit for

The point of the masks is music isn't supposed to be about beauty, when a lot of people make it in music because of how good they look. Masks take that away to trivialize beauty. It also lets them express parts of themselves through becoming something else with a mask. With the jumpsuits, it's the same thing....music shouldn't be about fashion and setting trends with clothes and all that.....so, jump suits take that away. Focus on the message and the music, not beauty and fashion. The song is deep. The Devil in I is confused by many as saying 'The Devil In Me'....the word is 'I' not 'Me'.....where does greed come from? I want, I think, I deserve, I need, I will have....I ,I ,I...greed and ego leads people to becoming 'Devils'.

I under stand your point but it definitely takes some talent to make beats in a studio and have it sound great and come up with good harmonies and rhythms and synchronize with the flow of the artist singing on the track

The point of the dark imagery is to make you uncomfortable. In this video if you notice they are wearing different masks when killing themselves which is supposed to represent moving on from who they were.

Hello! The point of the video, in a nutshell, is all the band members chose a "way to die" based on their own weaknesses. For instance, when the guitarist rips off his own face, in real life he's a bit of a quiet hermit. He doesn't like to be the center of attention. What better "way to die" than to rip off his own face? The thing that gives him the most anxiety. No face? No social problems. He became what he wanted to be. A nameless, faceless being. No one will bother him again. The lead singer blows himself up from a bomb in the face. "Lead singer syndrome". He can't be loved anymore for his weakness, which is being the center of attention. The guy at the end. That's his last "fuck you". "You clean up the mess I made." :) It has meaning behind it all.

RIP Joey! Good band even better people....dude with long nose...its a lairs nose wheel chairs are new guys being cleanse into the band, since past members are no more.

Wow, just found you guys because of Slipknot! One more sub! Keep discovering metal! My take on this song is kind of like the demons inside of them. Every new album Slipknot change their masks, this song was the first release of the 5th album, The Gray Chapter, in honor of the late Paul Gray, the bass player and one of the founding members, also this was their first album without their legendary drummer, Joey Jordison, in my opinion the best drummer in the world and founding member of Slipknot! He died just a few days ago, something very sad for Slipknot fans. Each of their old version face their fears my dying in a certain way, while their new and "improved" versions are playing the song. The song like I said focus on inner demons, many times times the reason of death to many people, including Pau Gray, by overdose... Keep going guys! You rock! You should react to more Slipknot and of course some of the other big metal bands around!

I went to a Slipknot concert in Toronto the year this song came out (2014 I think?). The friend I went with insisted on us being in the mosh pit so we moshed all night. I got knocked down at one point and thought I was gonna get trampled but instead other moshers helped me up swiftly. Best concert I’ve ever been to in my life to this day. Also proud to say I own Chris Fehns mask (the long nose). Halloween here I come.

I found this to be funny, Like no hate but, The masks are there for mood. Maybe to make you jump or to get an ugly reaction, The song is about killing your demons and moving on as a better person then you were. It’s funny how most people will write off a song that seems horrible, But once you find true meaning it reavels a worlds possibly. God I love music 😂 (To put this in perspective, Y’all are hip hop cheese lovers correct? I personally hate hip hop because it’s basic and not nowhere near as organic as even rock is. Metals what gets my pumping and wanting more. I’m a pretty devoted Christian, I enjoy music that has talent. Tho hip hop rap etc. May have talent in theirs or others eyes in mine it’s worthless noise. These guys Strain, Struggle, Cry, and hurt for this. So take this advise moving forward, Tgink into perspective on the lyrics before what you see, Hear, See, Think, And come to many conclusions to talk with yourself about or talk to others that have a conclusion(s) as well. So the video was made as a way to kill off their old self, heavy drug and alcohol use. Fun fact, Sid, The DJ, at least he did loves to jump off the tallest part of the stage into the crowd, which he broke both legs before and had to go though a entire tour with broken legs. When the band stabs the two members in the wheelchairs, that was a "Welcoming ritual" that dates back to early slipknot where the band kill each other in the Spit it Out video. Also they would get into fights on stage.

Yeah... evolving with their sound, but never losing their essence, they're just amazing.

Guys just LISTEN and WATCH and you will freaking understand what they sing and what they show.

to quote Clown, the video is about "finding past devils, becoming one with them, and then doing away with them" so essentially each member of the band becomes one with a "negative" aspect of their life so that they can then kill themself and as a result kill their devils. (the two guys in the wheelchairs are new member of the band which is why they are killed by the other band member because they hadn't been in the band long enough to earn those stripes at that point)

People who don't know the band always ask what's with the mask. The meaning of that is simple it's not about the appearance of the performer from the outside its always about the how you appreciate the music culture from the inside. and a lot of there music is more meaningful like many others.

These guys probably wont read it but any future people might .... The core of the band is who is playing doesn't matter, they were masks, jump suits and gave themselves numbers to erase their identity ... they don't matter, their music does. (it's why one has SEVEN tattooed down his arm). In this video the people dying are wearing the old masks, it's them letting go of the old slipknot and embracing the new (since 2 members have died and one left at the time of writing but at the time of recording only 2 had died) slipknot
