Take it to the limit was Randy's achilles heel. It was very difficult for him to reach those super high notes live, and he was often pressured into it by Henley and Frey. Fear of missing the notes was a major problem for him and if he failed, he was subject to a lot of emotional abuse.

A lot of people think that, but no. Only the ones in the harmonies mixed in pretty low are Meisner. The high lead falsetto is Henley all the way through. Henley also sang it live for years, where he sometimes held that crazy high note at the end. At one point he was accused by a journalist of lip syncing that part, and the journalist was invited to watch Henley sing it (from behind the drum kit I believe). A cool move by Henley. Ironically, later when Henley's voice started going down hill, they DID have him lip sync a part live...the bridge of "Waiting in the weeds", where a recorded vocal would suddenly kick in when that very challenging bridge came up. From being less than perfect as always the case live, when the bridge would kick in it would have a studio mic sound all of a sudden, perfectly tuned vocals exactly mathematically in tune on every crazy high note (the album vocal). Also, Henley's albums from 2000 are helped by autotune/pitch correction here and there, but it got especially bad on his latest solo album "Cass County", where it's applied in a very clumsy manner making it hard for me to listen to.

I haven't listened to it in so long and it sounded really really good. For something with yet even another feel, that was a big hit for the Eagles, check out Life in the Fast Lane. That Joe Walsh riff at the beginning is iconic.

I remember hearing their songs on the radio back in the day. I would be thinking “I really like this song. I wonder who sings it?”. Then being surprised it was The Eagles. This was more or less the introduction to Felder when he joined them. Olympic Studios in London saw the record there.
