    I think biggest advantage is the weight savings. That RE muffler and head pipe weighs a TON (18 lbs). Love my Delkevic full system. I went with the 14 to move the exhaust flow back past any bags I might toss on the back. Also running the Delkevic spark arrestor to stay "legal" while off road.

    Highly recommended a fuel Controller now that you have added a free flow exhaust. Also the biggest upgrade I did to my Himalayan was the stage 2 cam from Hitchcocks MC. Huge performance gains.

    @@advmike I don’t know about the fuel X but the powertronic is nice. You can set timing and fuel settings anywhere throughout the entire rev range from idle to full throttle. Throttle response is night and day. They have maps already made to upload or you can tweak your own maps. Since you have the exhaust I would do the fuel controller first if you only do one. If I could go back I wouldn’t even change anything but the CAM shaft. It’s that big of a difference. The cam was fairly straightforward to install and only took me about an hour and a half 2 hrs tops to install. It feels as if the entire powerband of the engine changed to a smooth linear progression in power and increased HP and torque. If I had to guess I’m pushing around 30HP now. Performance mods I’ve done are - powertronic ECU Hitchcocks stage 2 camshaft Delkivic full system exhaust W/O baffle DNA Air filter Iridium spark plug Air injection delete Evaporator delete Full exhaust wrap It’s night and day from stock and feels/sounds like a high performance 4stroke dirt bike.

    Hi again, ADV Mike! Just watched your Delkevic exhaust videos again. Truly, IMO, outstanding work and editing showing the install and sound comparisons! Very, very helpful and very appreciated. Am I correct in reading that you switched from the 9" to the 14" AND added the spark arrestor? I am curious as to how that is working out for you. Is the sound still appealing? Also, how is the stainless bluing, and have you resolved the "boot melt" issue (very common with many aftermarket exhaust systems) now that the stock shields are removed? Thank you, ADV Mike! Much respect to you for your efforts and what you accomplished here! Very helpful!

    What a thoughtful comment! I’ll do my best to answer everything. 😁 I went from the stock RE exhaust to the Delkevic 9”. Another channel “Mike’s projects and hobbies” (different Mike) installed the 14” with spark arrestor. I love the sound and get a ton of compliments on how “big” it makes the 411 sound. It also significantly reduces weight and adds a little punch to the throttle. It has developed a nice patina of blueing which I kinda like. I have had some boot melt. My plan is to strap a small heat shield but space at the heel is limited so I’m not sure I’ll love that either.

    I am living on Koh Phangan island in Thailand and have just got the Himalayan Scram. I would love a better sounding exhaust as this place is full of novice scooter riders on holidays which can be very dangerous. The louder sound sorts make them aware you are there and more aware. Thanks for the channel I will sub.

    Touching base from Vegas! So where do all these original parts from the bikes end up upon after market replacement? Ive waited 14 weeks for the windshield that is stock on a Himalayan. The stories from the dealer does no justice for RE. Great Vlogs Mike. Ive learned more about my Himalayan from sites just like this one. Thank you.

    @@advmike Interesting as to why we stay away from the dealerships. That is when RE could be stepping in because like a car, an individual should feel comfortable to have their motorcycles serviced. Not a stereo type to stay away at $168.00 labor per hour.

  • @advmike

    @advmike

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes - I'm definitely annoyed with that on this bike in general. I'll post a short soon showing the boot melt and color change on the pipe. I'm going to have to add some kind of heat shield there.

  • @MichaelWhite-cx4ho

    @MichaelWhite-cx4ho

    @ADV Mike Thank you, sir! Yes, the boot melt can be very annoying! There are a variety of ways to address that from inexpensive stainless heat shields to work boots with heat-resistant soles. Very interesting re: the discoloration! I love the sound and look and saddlebag clearance of the mini Delkevic silencer you selected. I had not heard any comments regarding discoloration, but I know that any stainless will discolor from heat with use, unlike high-quality chrome as found on Harleys, for example. I have considered experimenting with Krylon's High Heat 2000 Degree DIY spray primer and ceramic coat and have found a local shop with a 12 foot oven that will fire it at 450 degrees for 1 hour to cure it. However, between the paint and oven rental, I would spend approximately $150, and I would still have the big, heavy, and underwhelming sound of the OEM RE stock exhaust. Thanks again for adding to the knowledge base! I will likely be installing the same Delkevic header and silencer as you, along with a couple of stainless mini heat shields from Amazon. Thanks for saving me yet another pair of work boots lost to a hot pipe! Kind of frustrating showing up someplace with your boot heel melted off!

  • @MichaelWhite-cx4ho

    @MichaelWhite-cx4ho

    Жыл бұрын

    I would like to add that the Krylon 2000 Degree High Heat Ceramic spray paint can be heat treated/cured on the bike after spraying and reinstalling and running the bike for specific and gradually longer hot and cool down cycles. I will likely try this DIY project as I've seen videos of others having multiple years of adhesion success to date. The stock Himi silencer can also be made louder by drilling holes in the back of the unit near the exhaust outlet. More holes equal more noise. An inexpensive approach, and obviously not the quality, performance, and sound of a Delkevic system. I do like the black exhaust system on many of the other RE bikes and wish RE did the exhaust blackout on the Himi as well.

    The link for the exhaust is 404, not found. I've got the 2022 as well and Delkevic doesn't list anything past 2021. I know 2022 in the US had changes to the bike, so did you buy the setup for the 2017-2021 they have listed, or did they remove the exhaust for anything newer? It sound fantastic and exactly what I've been looking for for my bike.

  • @advmike

    Great question - I haven't researched that before, but this pipe definitely does not make it quieter. All the slip on's i've seen are louder. You *might* be able to pack extra insulation into the baffle of the stock, but I've never tried that and don't know if it would cause performance to suffer.
