Hilton Hawaiian Village, Hotel Tour

We love the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki. With so many hotels to choose from in Oahu, we reviewed this hotel resort so you can see what you are getting if you decide to stay here. Each tower has a different flavor and location within the resort, so watch and decide if this resort is for you. Also, don't forget to mention in the comments below if you have stayed here before, and what tower you stayed in. What did you like about it? What was your favorite activity on the property?
This is video 1 of a 7 video series on beachfront resorts on Waikiki Beach.

I just stayed in the Tapa Tower. Great overview! With so many rooms in one location, you have to be prepared for the large number of guests that are at the resort, but the staff does a great job. We never had to wait too long to do anything. Friday Fireworks are a cool touch, but its every week so don’t expect the fireworks to look like 4th of July in the US. I agree that you never have to leave the resort, but you should explore the island a bit if you have time!

Totally agree! Also, I suggest everyone leave the resort and explore Oahu. There are so many great things to do and see. My comment was based on people I have met there that do not leave the resort.

BTW, would you choose the Tapa Tower again? I have stayed in every tower, and the only one I would not choose again is the Diamond Tower, unless it was substantially reduced as compared to the other towers. If it was the same price as Tapa, I would always choose the Tapa Tower, as it has more recently renovated rooms.

What is a better room? The Rainbow ocean front or Ali ocean front ?

  • @Passporttotravel

That is a tough question. I stayed in the corner room oceanfront of Rainbow Tower once, and it was incredible, for the view. Better than Ali'i Tower. But I like having the private pool of the All'i Tower, so I always stay there now, if the rates are reasonable. So if you are only interested in the ocean view, choose a high floor on the Rainbow Tower and get the corner if possible.

Would you say there are too many people? Going there in a month and I don’t wanna be waiting for the elevators too long or waiting in huge lines to leave the parking lot in a car

It is a huge property, so it is built to manage having a lot of people at it. By mid August, crowds should be down substantially, so it should be fine. Which tower are you booked into?

We've stayed there 5 times and never felt like it was crowded. However, I would NOT use the valet service because I've had them take more than 20 minutes to get my car and I've seen the drivers just standing in the parking structure on their phones when they were getting someones car. It's much faster to get your car yourself and it's a very short walk.

I agree. Parking is so expensive at the property (and anywhere in Waikiki for that matter), you don't want to add frustration into it as well. And I agree that the resort doesn't feel "too" full. I did read that they will be building a new tower - timeshare tower I believe, where the old Kobe restaurant closed down. Even with that, I still think the property can handle the higher volume. I guess we will see how that plays out in a few years after it opens.

Can you go to the other towers pools?

  • @Passporttotravel

    @Passporttotravel

You can not go to the Ali'i Tower pool unless you stay there. But all guests can use the other pools (Tapa, Kalia, and the main pool). The timeshare tower has a pool and waterslides that are not available to guests of the hotel (although they make an exception for Ali'i Tower guests).

@@Passporttotravel have you ever done a timeshare presentation in hawaii and stayed there?

  • @Passporttotravel

I have not done the timeshare presentation, but have paid to stay at a one bedroom in the oldest timeshare tower, when the rates were low enough that it made sense. It was ok, and I had a marina view, and access to the laundry facilities, and of course the pool there that has the waterslide. If the price was right (under $200), I would tay there again, but it was old. That tower had previously been an apartment complex and they didn't do much when converted, but it does have a great location. The other towers are much newer, but I have never stayed there. But I do know people who have done the timeshare presentation and stayed there. They didn't buy, jut sat through the presentation. Apparently it was super intense, like some I have heard of that really pressure you to purchase.

We stayed in the Ali’i Tower, and it was amazing. The secluded pool and pool bar, which overlook the beach and have a stunning view, are well worth it.
