Hillsbrad Foothills - Music & Ambience | World of Warcraft Cataclysm

Hillsbrad is traditionally the most blood-soaked battlefield on Azeroth, despite its pleasant, pastoral setting. The southwestern corner of the area, such as Azurelode Mine, used to be part of Gilneas before the Greymane Wall was built. Central Hillsbrad was part of the Kingdom of Lordaeron from at least the 19 BDP. The northern part of this region consists of the chilly Alterac Mountains, where the ruins of the city of Alterac have been claimed by a tribe of ogres and the majestic city of Dalaran was once annihilated by the demon lord Archimonde during the Third War.
Due to the plaguing of Southshore, the conversion of the farms into the Sludge Fields and the destruction of Dun Garok, the Alliance lost all their major holdings in Hillsbrad following the Cataclysm. The Stormpike clan attempted a large counterattack from the Alterac Mountains to the north, but their plans were thwarted by Horde heroes and they lost many of their forces. Despite this, by the time of the third invasion of the Burning Legion, the Stormpikes still maintain presence.
The Dalaran mages fought against the Forsaken while they rebuilt their city, only to move the city to Northrend to combat the Lich King. What little Alliance activity is left in the region is centered around Dalaran Crater and the "four fingers" of Alterac, where the Stormpike with the aid of their new Bloodfang allies seek to drive out the Forsaken. However, the Horde sabotaged the fingers.
A large group of undead unleashed by Warden Stillwater terrorizes Brazie Farmstead.

In Cataclysm, this zone became a soup. It has everything, especially after it was merged with Alterac Mountains. I still can't understand why they did not revamp the Alterac Mountain zone to include the Alterac Valley in it. They did not know what to do with it, since there aren't quests present there (we just go there during the Winter Veil for one quest). Regarding the quests (only for the Horde side), most of them are brutal, especially the Sludge Fields one. Ah, and some stupid quests, bugged and uncalled for (e.g.: fawn quest). Oh man, the undedicated PVP zone of vanilla. The lag was also massive almost every night.😂
I come from mainland China, a place where playing games is considered a sin. But in the 18 years of playing WOW, I met my wife and countless friends. To me, it's not just a game, it's a part of my life. Last year, we lost our server, and there seems to be very little hope of it coming back. Listening to this music, I deeply wish I could return to that world once again.Thank you Meisio.

Several of my friends went to the Asian server, but more of them chose to AFK. To me, it's not about the game, it's more about the memories we have, the things we have done, it feels like everything has been left there. I started playing on a steam deck a few weeks ago. It´s flexible and just magical. It replaced my no longer existing gaming pc and fulfilled my desire to play WoW again.

The changes Cataclysm brought were strange. I get some mechanics were to become better, both in terms of character development and world-hosted dynamics (quest, flow, story .. etc). Yet, Hillsbrad was always a zone that had a flicker of freedom, where the player was let loose to explore, mob, or level professions, more that the others ... a necessary filler of sorts. I've not been there for long, although I respected it, since it was the first (or second, after Duskwood) contested area my toons really showed up in. Oh well .. I'd really be ready to spend that amount of time again, here, both is pre and post-Cataclysm. Thanks, Meisio!

Cataclysm is when they ruined these zones alongside the undead. All the tesla ball shenanigans and halloween buildings they made to represent the undead was terrible imo.

It was needed imo, i didnt mind the change. Leveling got hundreds of times better aswell. Things evolve, kinda glad they did it. Ive been around since march 2005 and still playing, both versions. :D

The biggest issue with cataclysm is that they removed vanilla from the game with no way of returning. Not until Classic was released 9 years later.
