Given that last year I really liked the 2014 edition of the Hills Race event (a racing weekend for American cars and aircooled Volkswagens) I went to this year one too. Many Pro ET and Super Pro ET class cars but also a Pro Mod ("Blown Nugget" with 2600 hp) and the Jet Funny Car of Sebastien Lajoux.

    Rolf Amann and his team are very likeable thoroughbred racers. I have great respect for Rolf's courage!!! It's a real shame as he wasn't able to demonstrate his skills due to technical problems. And I'm also proud to see my brother in Rolf's team. Rolf, a really great driver and team boss!👍👍👍 I wish the new team good luck and success!!! THANK YOU for the great video!!!👍👍👍

    I love to watch these local European drag racing events , cause there are cars we don't see in regular NHRA or PDRA racings , for example that Alfa Romeo is osm , very threatening looking machine.

    Nice video, as always :) But I was wondering why for some races the lights were asynchronous - any explanation?

    +Mr X The power of the cars is too different and they try to minimize the gap making the start time a little different. I dont know how they calculate it but in this way it should be like the two cars have the same engine power (hp). Bozzy correggimi se sbaglio.

    2 cars 2 differet bracket, if they ran heads up it would be a boring race cause the faster car wouldve easily won. so they make it interesting.

    +Mr X What is happening is that one car runs faster than the other. Because of this they let the slower car leave first. The margin of the head start is determined by what time the driver of the car says his car can possibly run. For instance if one driver says his car can run exactly 10.00s and the other driver says 15.00s the slower driver will get exactly a 5.00s head start. In this way, if both drivers left at the perfect light and ran the perfect time, they would tie. The lights are accurate to 1/1000th of a second, so any imperfection in the run results in a loss. Ties happen, but they're extremely rare. The reason this system was developed was to get rid of the "He who has the most money wins" syndrome. Someone with an extremely low budget can go out for a day of racing (at a much slower speed) and the guy who likes to go fast can still be in a competitive race. Hope this helps!

    una domanda..... come mai in molte partenze lo start verde non e sincrono per entrambe le auto, ma presenta un notevole scarto,. forse per compensare qualcosa...

    +Oscar Thorpe guess they have the best to offer in terms of displacement and such. I also wondered about that a few times

  • @Daniel-eu9xw

    @Daniel-eu9xw

    8 жыл бұрын

    Because drag racing originated in the U.S. and they saw V8s as a status symbol, meaning a large amount of cars had them from the factory, and they where relatively cheap alone, so people naturally started using them. They also tended to have larger displacements than other engines evadible in the U.S. at the time, meaning fairly low cost and simple modifications can get you a lot of power if your not to worried about reliability. The reason they're still used today is mainly tradition, people just see supercharged V8s as the right engine to put in a drag car.

  • @Treetop64

    +Booby Mcswagger That'a not an actual Corvette body. It's a race body that is made to look like a Corvette, and the car has Corvette and other GM components (or their racing upgrades). Many race series around the world feature cars that look like what you see on the street, but are in fact built from the ground up 100% race cars.

  • @SuperMan-ud1od

    @SuperMan-ud1od

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Booby Mcswagger A lot of the time those cars that you see where they ARE in fact the real thing (the one in the video is not) are cars that have been in accidents and are no longer insurable on the road as they were "written off" or they have been abandoned for many many years and then "found" but legal ownership/title is not possible due to the death of the original owner or just simply unable to be located. Rather than have it parted out or just sit rotting until it goes to the scrapyard, people turn them into race cars. If you ask me, it's a fitting tribute to the spirit of the automobile. They were created as sports cars and what's more fitting than racing a sports car?

    How about a 356 Porsche? Which dwarfs a Corvette in terms of value in the classic marketplace.

    Wish other drag strips would take a note from this place, middle of the track the wall stops an open field in case any cars go out of control they can go into the grassy area. But nope not in America the more you wreck the more you got to spend wish other drag strips would take a note from this place, middle of the track the wall stops an open field in case any cars go out of control they can go into the grassy area. These fans would shit their paints if they had two American Top Fuel Dragster side by side racing each other with each having over 10,000hp and doing less than a 1/4 mile (1000' not 1350' now) in 4.5 seconds at 335mph. It's so intense your bones rattle and your brain shakes in your head!
