Four years ago, the Hillcrest and Washington-Coles Voluntary Neighborhood Acquisition and Relocation Program was established by the Port Corpus Christi, City of Corpus Christi - Government, Corpus Christi Housing Authority and Texas Department of Transportation.
The goal was to voluntarily relocate businesses and residents who lived in the Hillcrest area as the new Harbor Bridge was constructed.
Today, we are proud to report a majority of those residents have relocated, and no homebased or small business was closed due to the program.
“Our program was built the four precepts of Respect, Dignity, Fairness and Transparency,” said Sean Strawbridge, Chief Executive Officer for the Port of Corpus Christi. “We’re going to do our best to do what’s best for as many people as possible.”
