Hildo's Harley vs Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade (English subs)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Dragrace between Hildo, the owner & builder, of a 25 year old Harley Ratbike Chopper and the owner of a 170hp+ Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade. This man has considerable experience racing circuits but this ain't no circuit!
He was sure this race would be a piece of cake against this rolling piece of Harley crap, then things turned bad... Enjoy!!
This vid is identical to the first, but comes with English subs for the Non-Dutch viewers. Leave your comments, but please keep it decent. Thanks and enjoy!!

Hildo, the Harley King in this video, had a stroke back on June 28, 2015 that left him partially paralyzed and weakened, and being the exceptional individual that he obviously is, he's already back to cycling. Please say a quick prayer that he continues his stellar recovery and lives on to a long and happy old age?

Hildo definitely knew how to ride. It makes sense, that Harley has gobs of low end torque, a closer gear ratio, and a long ass front end that won't easily come off the ground when shit starts spinnin'. Add a guy with 40 or 50 years' experience and beach ball sized nuts floppin' on the gas tank, there you have it.

I was close to top RPM in 2nd gear, running a little over 100km/h (over 60 MPH), know that cause that's were my false teeth begin to rattle (shiftpoint). Think the race lasted in the neighbourhood of 3 seconds. Damn, maybe I guessed the 70HP wrong?

A Japanese sport bike needs to be launched by riding the clutch at 8000+ rpms because that's it's powerband. The Honda guy didn't do that so he lost miserably. He look to be a bit of a newcomer because it looked like he even stalled the bike once before they raced. Experience is everything. Hildo has no fear and knows his bike so he gets the most out of it. The other guy is afraid so doesn't use the bike's potential.

  • @Previalegend
    @Previalegend2 жыл бұрын

It's not the bike; it's the rider. The CBR1000 is a hell of a bike. The Honda rider isn't ready to ride that Honda yet; he doesn't trust his ability or his bike. Look at his starting position while the other rider is ready to go and relax. Kudos to Hildo, the legend 👏

  • @CutthroatBill

It's not just torque that is a factor here. Hildo's bike is also superior with it's low center of gravity, which allows Hildo to use more of the bikes power without flipping backwards.

@goatlocker1995. I do have front brakes, just not of the working kind. They went south a couple of days before racing and are now waiting for repair. Riding without a front brake set-up, here in Holland, would attrack attention from the Good Ol' Boys in blue very quickly. That attention will set you back 75 euros (approx. 100 US), as I know from experience... Must say, I can think of better ways of spending it :-)

Its all good. Been riding for over 30 years. Have Harleys and BMWs. Old ones and newer ones. Riding a motorcycle no matter what make or how fast or slow its still all good. A rider, two wheels and out in the air with the wind in your face. Doesn't matter what town, country or place. By yourself or with others. Matters not. To have experienced riding on two wheels is all about living. At least to me. Difficult to explain and describe to someone who has never been on a bike. Speaking for myself I am so pleased that I ride bikes regularly and take that experience of freedom with me no matter where I go or end up. Hope to have many more years with the life style. Living life to the absolute fullest is enjoying a bike ride. Good luck to any and all riding and be safe.

in the 1/4 mile the fireblade would win so badly it wouldn't even be a race. The v twin produces torque at low rpm, that is why he gets the jump off the line. The fireblade can do 180 mph while the harley would be lucky to break 125 mph.

I've got a Harley Sportster and I think you should think about what you're going to do, that Honda is nothing to belittle. Don't take me wrong, I love my Harley but it's just not fast enough. That Harley's got enough torque to pull a building down, he owned him alright. This is my first time on here, I'm gonna sub, leave a thumbs up, and a tap on the bell. Prayers for your speedy recovery, Hildo. Greetings from USA!

A quick start has nothing to do with power, it's about TORQUE - both bikes produce about the same in total - probably circa 75 -80 lb/ft The Honda doesn't make much until 4-5k and then it's still got a way to go to get to the max at probably around 11,000, the Harley is making oodles more torque from low revs up to max revs (which aren't much higher). It makes big torque from 800rpm up. The Harley also has about 4 times the rubber footprint to transmit the superior torque to the road - another influence is the big bang firing sequence of the Harley compared with the Honda, the Honda produces constant power which gives the rear tyre no time to recover so it's likely to spin - even if you don't see it - dropping the clutch at 5k revs would spin the rear wheel and/or lift the front whereas the Harley makes pulses (Cylinders fire Bang No1, Bang No2, Miss No 1, Miss No2) which enable tyre recovery (minutely during Miss 1 & Miss 2) which in turn leads to better transmission of torque to the driven wheel and hence the road. This is why Ducatis are rather good at maintaining traction in corners and won a lot of races before the Japanese twigged it was more than the bigger engine allowance for only having a twin. In the video situation even a professional racer would look poor from the off, but it's horses for courses. Who would bet on a racehorse climbing a tree faster than a monkey ? Not me.... But you'd bet the horse could run faster...... There is a reason you don't see Harleys in MotoGp - and you don't see people cruising in top gear at 50mph on Fireblades..........They are made with different goals in mind.

The honda would probably have a larger rubber patch and better torque and power plus it's lighter. The problem is the rider has no idea how to launch it. It's pretty obvious. Nothing against hildo as he obviously knows what he is doing but if you swapped the riders around the outcome would be the opposite. Anyway it's a great video for harley riders to dream on.

Fireblade would eat this bike the only thing the Harley has is 2 seconds at take off which means dick all. Fireblade is a sub 10 second bike in the quarter mile period. And Honda destroyed Ducatis very short lived run of 1000cc class wins. . Honda had it before then Ducati had it for a couple years at best then Honda took it back again for years to come with RC-51 and the latest year firebaldes. And No the fireblade cruises at 60+mph pretty nicely in top gear. Inline OHC or DOHC engines always run at and are capable of higher rpms. And only Hondas V series rc 51 can run high rpms most Vs just cannot do it .

Really? I challenge you bro. We do the same race, my bike against your clearly superior NC700X. Same race, same place. If you win I pay you 2000 euro's. If I win, you pay me 2000 euro's. That's easy money. Howabout it?

Torque stronger than hp all day, not by a lot but it makes a Harley what it is. 👊 horses don't mean much if you can't put em to the ground. Even my pops 103 custom order has more ft lbs than ponies, not by a lot but if you can ride like my man you could have a sweet mini bike and smoke that 250 ninja or whatever it was supposed to be lol. The 600 sport bikes in America put up a hell of a fight
