Craziest thing is Victoria is a picture of what Hilda could become. Like Hilda’s whole thing is trying to help someone while not thinking of the consequences of it, and she never learns from her mistakes. Take the 40 year night, she tries to help someone and two versions of her end up dying. Victoria is trying to make big advancements for society as a whole to help them without thinking about the consequences. In the end she has to sacrifice herself in a way for it.

Hilda is a great series for me because it prioritizes an engaging story and compelling characters over hammering home an important message, and I don't see too many other shows like that today. I hope to one day produce animated stories in a similar fashion.

I feel like Trundle should be at the top of the evil list because he literally tried to wipe out an entire town and everything around it, manipulating Hilda in the process, whereas Victoria was actually sorry and wanted to turn a new leaf for Trolberg but was too clouded by her ego to realize how risky her experiment was. (Yes, I'm aware that she also manipulated the kids and held Frida captive for a little bit, not saying she's a good person).

Honestly I was expecting Trundle to be the most evil.

Honestly he comes close Especially as he was COUNTING on humans fighting back against the trolls he was leading and him as well so that Amma would wake up and destory the entire town He might have a good goal (reunite the trolls with their mom), but he didn't care if all the humans got wiped out He made sure not to directly fight himself so he'd appear Innocent, and thus confuse whatever senses Amma has into thinking the humans callously killed him

finally, Hilda getting the recognition it deserves!!

It's criminally underrated

With season 3 out this definitely needs an update!

In Johana's defense, all she really knew about Alberge came from him publicity machine, and given what a close call she, Twig and Alur had had with the hostile trolls, insisting that David and Frida stay behind was far more responsible than exposing them to danger. It wasn't the loss of the book that upset Frida, it was that the ghost who had been a previous owner stopped coming by to clean her room. Baba actually returned to the trolls, but she occasionally spends a night with Hilda's family because she and Johana had bonded. Tontu was his personal name, not the name of his species, which are called Nisse, and the Nisse who helped him save Hilda and Johana was the friend of the giant dog. I don't think there was a Nisse in the apartment they rented before they took in Tontu. Trundle was actually the worst: he was deliberately trying to provoke his gentle mother into destroying Trollsburge and killing thousands of humans, knowing full well that she had chosen to lay still for centuries rather than harming the village they had unwittingly built on top of her. The fact that he was willing to die to do this does not redeem him. Victory Vangale was never intentionally malicious. She always meant well, but was so intent on grand schemes and the greater good that she never saw the harm she was doing. In some ways, she was a lot like Hilda.

Are we gonna forget that in the span of one episode Hilda completely ignored her mothers feelings and worries, and disobeyed her to spy on a neighbor, disregarding his privacy and when she found out about his reluctance to do something - she demanded that he would do something and when he refused she decided to mess with his private life which ultimately resulted in people DYING to Time Worm? Oh - and she was totally chill with it afterwards. The thought that her mother worries may be somewhat reasonable - didn't even enter her head. Her mother did everything that a reasonable parent would do, while Hilda acted as self-righteous brat that did not care for peoples feelings and boundaries. I hope she will get some kind of redemption arc, because she has a ton of toxic behaviors.

I thought she already did get a redemption? Wasn't that same episode with the Time Worm meant to serve as her wake-up call? That was the whole point of that episode, and going by the ending, I think she definitely learned her lesson. And I think it's safe to say that Hilda was bettered during the movie as well.

@@AvalynTheAccursed This may be subjective. From what I remember about this episode I didn't feel like she learned her lesson at all. During film Hilda did get too deep, but at that point I disliked her behavior so much that I was actually annoyed that she was always running away to do her own thing - but the moment where things got too overwhelming for her - just as her mother worried for the whole time - Hilda broke down and was just screaming "Mommy!" for half the time. While Hilda is an interesting character that means well - she disregards other people feelings and acts selfishly far too often to be this high on the list - in my opinion.

Isn’t that literally the whole point of Hilda’s character. She’s presented as a sweet innocent child, who does nothing wrong and wouldn’t hurt a fly, except she’s a selfish brat who often thinks more about she wants over what others want and hurts her loved ones a lot, because you know? She’s a child who hasn’t fully developed empathy, because her brain and worldview are still developing.The show constantly hammers in how much of a selfish brat Hilda is in spite of her good qualities.

Yeah Hilda can be a brat. She does have some good in her, but let’s not forget her yin side.

This is one of those series suitable and enjoyable for any age. Interesting folklore and charming characters.

Victoria is my most favorite antagonist. I hope she and the other villains get redeemed at the end of the series.

David never did anything to hurt someone until Hilda and Frida bullied him into overcompensating just to not get bullied which literally got him killed. He deserves more, both on this list and in the show since he always is sidelined and isn’t given any cool character traits/skills other than being the ladies man
