This is an impossible occurrence. Two of the greatest violinist of all time trying to communicate. I thought Heifetz might walk by and say hello. Gitlis's great courage in playing the violin in the manner that he did and does, in the face of his peers(Heifetz, Milstein, Oistrakh, Francescatti) is an inspiration. Ms. Hahns' courage in playing as close to perfect as any human being ever in the face of Heifetz's legacy is also amazing to me.

Thank you HIliary, a treasured moment listening to a great master whose musical life spans difficult times, many changes. It's special for me to see you two interact in a casual way instead of having the master on show eg I. Stern, Perlman, Kogan, Zukerman w/specific agendas to address. Gentle reality, just chatting. Maestro Gitlis is inspirational, a musical force in my life. Perhaps it's my age, but I feel as he does about teaching, drawing from a student's intuitive & often learning myself.

It's rather urgent advice from a 90 year old man who realizes his life isn't infinite. I don't say that in a morose way at all--Ivry said so himself. Nothing he says should be discarded as irrelevant--life is life, no matter what century we're in. Ivry Gitlis' words are probably more relevant now than ever as we move further and further away from the sentimental and passionate world Ivry Gitlis belongs to and into the fast-paced, materialistic world you and I belong to.

I think both have things to learn about life and eternity as do all of us. It was an opportunity she didn't want to miss. SHe means well despite the convoluted communication styles and content. What makes them great is not so much their talent but how the lived it and helped others to reach higher in their understanding, emulation, and dreams..

Ohhh, man! I just had to pause at 11:34 and take a breather because she just doesn't get it. I don't know if she's still in her late teens early 20's when she did this but it gets more and more astonishing how many accomplished artists in every field don't see the spirituality and total connectedness of everything in the universe.

its displayed in their different styles. hilary is a bit of a robot and machine when it comes to violin. ivry believes that every note should have a voice. his philosophy on violin isn't about performance, its about speaking. thats why music is life to him.

Maybe I should listen to Hilary's playing more often, but I think mr. Gitlis goes more to the edge of the musical limits when perforrming. And yeah, Hilary seems that way because she is the interviewer but if mr Gitlis would be interviewing Hilary there wouldn't be much of a difference I think :P It may sound a bit negative but I think mr Gitlis is a lot more imaginative than Hilary (and most other musicians) So you were right with your first comment :P
