Part of being in a loving marriage is knowing and negotiating and understanding each others boundaries. There isn't a one size fits all for every situation... It isn't controlling to acknowledge your boundaries and help your partner understand them, it would however be controlling to make demands rather than have conversations about it. It seemed to me that Ethan was perhaps unaware of one of her Boundaries, and she was making it clear that, that is somewhere she CURRENTLY draws the line, maybe thats negotiable in the future, maybe its not. They'll never know if they dont talk about it.
