Useful video thanks. You mentions the LED light being on if there is no ambient light around. I wondered if the LED light can be set to only come on when there has been a motion detection?

Great tests, thank you. Clearly motion is huge problem at night, but having colour identification is a bit of a game changer. Moving car test footage would be useful.

Thanks for commenting Steve. having colour identification is a game changer, but motion will always be an issue. Will try and show a vehicle in another video, but wont be any better considering a car is generally moving faster. You will still be able to identify the colour and possibly make of the car.

Is this one actually the same like that NC800 Annke has released🤔

From all experience with hikvision they all need to be adjust upwards on the video quality in settings and slight tinkering for the area on the brightness and sharpness out the box

Thanks for commenting. Yes it is better to adjust if necessary. A lot of our tests are straight out the box to give you an indication as to what you can expect without the need adjust the video settings. Having to adjust the settings adds to setup time and also allows an easier comparison between manufacturers.

Great review, ColorVu is in the top of the night view class! Do you know if the cables are detachable from the unit? I want to attach it to a wall but I wouldn't like to drill a hole the size of the PoE connector thingy.

use mounting box on the wall, i had the same questions (part nr DS-1273ZJ-140 for off-wall, or DS-1280ZJ-DM8 for normal on wall mount. Do note, check if the diameter is compatible with your model of camera, there are 2 diameter sizes as far as i know with different part numbers ;) )

Thank you. Unfortunately cables are not detachable. As Adriaan has mentioned use a mounting box to hide the cables.

You make really good videos, thanks so much. I will keep watching! For private home use, I don't like the LED, what model HIK comes without LED?, I can't seem to find on the web.vThanks.

Hi Mel. You can turn the LED off, but the depending on the ambient light it may effect the picture.

На счёт размытого лица. В настройках изображения, можно уменьшить выдержку. Я не знаю на сколько это поможет, так как уменьшая выдержку, становится чётче лицо, но темнеет само изображения. Возможно у этой камеры с её высоко чувствительной матрицей это поможет, надо пробовать.

Normally when you do a 4K camera review you should upload it in 4K not 1080p so we can see the quality

Thank you for the video. What would you recommend to make identifying peoples face in the dark? I guess more light. or would sacrificing fps benefit against motion blur? Thanks in advance. :)

Is the AI built into the camera or does it need a comparable NVR or cloud service? I have an older 7600 I series Hikvision NVR and am not sure if the camera's AI would work with it. I'm looking to replace a first generation 4MP ColorVu because the motion detection and line crossing are constantly giving me false alarms no matter the settings, the person and vehicle detection would be perfect for me.

@@EQLNetworksSecurity DS-7616NI-Q2, V3.4.112 build 200415 There is a newer FW version for my unit but for whatever reason the machine won't auto update and I don't want to manually update out of fear of locking up the NVR.

@@Pro1er That model and firmware version is compatible with the newer firmware according to HikVision. I would go back to where you got it from and get them to confirm. If it does lock up your NVR they should be able to help you out.

Hi Ken. According to Hikvision this camera does not currently support HEOP.

The only problem with the Colorvu cameras is the spot lights on the cameras HAVE to be on to view full color. Kinda screens out here I am if you’re trying to keep the camera on a low profile.

It will depend on the ambient light levels around. If it is completely dark the spot light will come on. If there is some ambient light around you can disable the spot light and still have colour video.

the zoom clarity is slightly disappointing isn't it :( whats your opinion on the colour night time recording? the quality shown in the vid do you think youre better off with IR instead?

Yes it a little bit disappointing but is to be expected. I believe you need two cameras a colour camera and an IR camera to get the best of both worlds.

Imagine someone breaking into your house and you have these setup. When does a robber ever just sit still and no motion. It would suck to capture someone breaking in but not being clear enough to show any facial detail because of motion blur. So is it just me or is IR the safer choice? I’d like to see these sensors used with an IR camera from hikvision.

Can this be live streamed? Any subscription services? Does it need an NVR? I'm a newbie

Hi Yes can be live streamed using the app an adding the camera via P2P. No Subscription. It doesn't need an NVR although would be better as you would be limited into amount of storage you put on the micro SD card.
