Hiking up to Brazil's most important Monument: Christ The Redeemer Statue | Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro is a city full of attractions. One of the most significant tourist magnets is the
Christ the Redeemer Statue up on the Corcovado mountain. Overlooking the city it is located in the National park da Tijuca which is claimed to be the world’s largest urban forest and was designated as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 2012. In 1961, the Tijuca Forest was declared a national park. In 2012, UNESCO designated the landscapes around Rio de Janeiro as a world heritage site.
The statue was completed in 1931 and stands 98 feet (30 meters) tall, its horizontally outstretched arms spanning 92 feet (28 meters). The statue has become emblematic of both the city of Rio de Janeiro and the whole nation of Brazil.
Most people take the train or the bus to visit the monument. My friend Paul and I decided to explore the national park and hike up to Christ the Redeemer.
In this video, I'll take you on another outdoor adventure to one of the world's most emblematic monuments of Christianity. Enjoy!
