Hiking to one of Wellington's less accessible shore dive spots for big Crayfish and Paua!
In this video I make the journey to Wellington and head out on a hike to access a location that gets a bit less dive pressure.
Once in the water I find it loaded with Paua, good numbers of Crayfish and plenty of Butterfish.
I soon have a bag limit of paua and a crayfish but break my spear trying to straighten it after noticing it bent so can't shoot any fish.
Carrying on I find more crayfish and a couple of octopus...

Nice, I’ve always been interested in catching crayfish but not being able to see the bottom makes me think where are the sharks lol

You're very unlikely to encounter sharks when looking for crayfish in the shallows. I usually only see them when shooting fish. Cheers!!!

As someone who grew up very close to that coast I can assure you it’s un-diveable for 90% of the year 😂. Big swell, big cold, big deterrents to dive and hence big paua and big crayfish in shallower water. There’s always a heap of octopus there too.
