The oldest wild camper? I'm nearly 72 and regularly wild camp, including by bike.
I feel like you would make an amazing presenter on countryfile! Loved this video so much , hope you guys are doing good :)
Hi athena.. i just want to say thank you for making these videos .. ive suffered from high anxiety for pretty much most of my life.. it can feel so lonely and makes me feel so sad when it hits hard. some days i just feel nothing at all.. but watching your videos has given me peace, joy and to be honest a new perspective in life. i always thought i was a city girl.. and i always thought that money was the ultimate goal in life, but i know deep down that the country side makes me happier. your an inspiration and a true role model to young women.. i will buy your book and hike in the peak district next year when covid is (hopefully!) over :)
Nice one Harvey. That Athena makes a great assistant, I'd keep her on in your blogs lol. I laughed out loud at 5.25 when you couldn't remember where you were navigating to. That's what sets your vlogs apart. You didn't edit that out but keeps it fun & human without detracting from the point of the vlog & that you actually do know what you're doing. Another great video guys. Take care till next time mate x
It always amazes me how a highly populated country like the UK has such ample stretches of stunning 'wild' scenery. I'm envious to the core! Fantastic video once again. Harvey is a natural behind the camera, but my favourite has to be Oslo. if I met a fella with such beautiful eyes, I marry him straight out. No questions asked!!!! 😂

UK is fab we have a lot of wilderness on our little Island :)
I wasn't sure it would be a good idea to watch this because I have been told to self-isolate with the evil-c and I am not allowed to leave my house. After 5 days of the same four walls and not speaking face to face to another human being I am getting quite desperate to go for a walk again - in any weather fair or foul. Sitting here and drawing pictures of places I love in the Yorkshire Dales, then Scotland, then back in Somerset and back to Scotland again has kept me sane in the mean time. 20 minutes of watching two other people enjoying themselves has given me enough resolve to hang on for a few more days at least!!! Navigation in mist takes a long time to master and when you get it right it gives you a real boost and confidence in your own abilities.
You and Harvey have a great chemistry on film. Loved it.

This is inspiring me to get out next weekend when the rules get relaxed, regardless of whether it's cold or not!

@Andrew Oliver I broke my only pair of glasses at the back end of last week so had to prioritise an emergency appointment at the opticians over getting out 😞 (Plus South London was gloriously sunny on Saturday which made matters even worse!) But, I booked tickets for a National Trust property with walking trails around a huge estate for next weekend to make up for it, so looking forward to that. Sweet of you to ask Andrew - just sorry my answer wasn't any better! 🤦♀️
Always relaxing and enjoyable to watch your videos, thanks!
So nice to see the two of you out hiking again with Oslo, though rather you than me in such misty weather. The scenery towards the end was just wonderful, and I'm looking forward to some more armchair hiking in December! Thanks Athena and Harvey. 😊
Another lovely vlog with beautiful photography! I always look forward to them. Thank you both👍
Superb again. Keep doing amazing things 👍🏻
Excellent video as always , so calming good to see Harvey helping 😀 ! Stay safe xx
Beautifully atmospheric, thank you for another gorgeous vlog ❤️🐚 xx
Watching from Tennessee, thanks for taking us along on another adventure. Looking forward to the next video... ❤️❤️❤️
I smiled all the way through it - loved it💙
Loved this one, was so fascinating watching you navigate and how you went around it. Harvey and yourself make a great team :)
Thanks Athena+Harvey, Great to see you both out+about. I have asked for your book for Xmas , can't wait
Feeling under the weather at the moment so this is very inspiring . Love the peak district so many places to explore . Thanks
I can't get enough of your videos. I get so much inspiration from them. You, Harvey, and Oslo are such a delight to watch. Thank you for sharing as always :)
I know nothing about map reading and found this video really interesting. Good luck with your mountain leader course Athena x

Settled in watching another one of your vlogs Athena - or should I say Harvey!! You always inspire me to create better travel vlogs and I know I say this all the time but I think your videos just keep getting better and better!! Absolutely love them! Just seen your guide book launched now too - how exciting!! I CAN'T wait to read it!! Sending loveee xx
Lovely seeing you out and about especially with a smile on your faces. The walk looked brilliant, very well navigated.
Loved this video. Such a nice dynamic between the two of you here (and always). Enjoyed learning some navigation along the way with you too 😊 take care all x
Great video, that's my favourite side of kinder, love the classic Casio you're wearing in that colour.
Makes me want to hike again! The nature is waving! ☀️💕🙌🏻 Thank you for sharing! 🙏🏻

Love it, guys!
Great video Athena (and Harvey of course!). That little calculator card looked really useful. So easy to underestimate distance in rough terrain. Big up to Steve! Thought I was doing well wild camping at 58 😁 He certainly looks well on it! All the best! 👍
As always Athena an inspiring vlog........good to see Harvey at the “helm”...or at least he thought he was but really I’m sure you were the coxswain 😂😂. Thanks guys.
Another great vlog, Athena and Harvey, great to see Harvey taking the helm. Looked like Oslo enjoyed the walk aswell. Looking forward to receiving your walking guide book. (Xmas pressie to myself) stay safe both, see you on the next one 😊
Enjoyed this video, can't wait to get out myself, beautiful dog 🐶
Always so good the the colours of the valley the fog and the brooks thank you so much for sharing stay safe cheers from Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺❤️
such lovely relaxing slow tv. more of this pleaaaaaase!
It's been such a challenging time since March. Thank you so much Athena and Harvey for all your videos. You have been such posiitve voices, and done such a lot for people you don't know, by bringing the wild into our temporarily restricted (and sometimes locked down) lives. All the best.
Great as usual, and really nice to see the chap you met, I know you don’t usually show them, but it adds something so more of this please (with permission of people of course). Also love to see a few bloopers at the end 👍
Brilliant hike xxx
Very nicely put together and fun too. :-)
I think now is my favourite time of year to be outdoors. It looks stunning up there.
OMG Harvey starting the intro....THE DAY HAS FINALLY ARRIVED WHERE HE IS NOT THAT SHY ANYMORE!
Peak District just suits this season so well, with all the heather etc. Think we need to head over this way next week
Great vid Athena. I did the same walk a few years ago ( parked at kitchen clough car park). The northern edge of kinder is spectacular.
Lovely video as always , thank you
That was fascinating to watch. Thank you
Very good thank you for the memory mounting leadership training 50 years ago
The climb up to Kinder via Fairbrook is stunning 😍. Great delegation skills giving Harvey responsibility for the opening commentary. I always thought he needed to do a bit more to earn his keep 😂
Beautiful in every way! Thank you :D
Beautifully made! Thanks again for taking us into the wilderness. I can recommend the Northern edges of Kinder for some rock climbing, should you get the time (and weather!) in the coming summer.
Another beaut. I love this place to place navigation! Harvey is a decent stand in. 😉
Great video, well done!
Great video Athena great to see Oslo back in your vlogs all the best to you and Harvey oh and super star Oslo.....😎😎😎😎.....Stewart
Doing great with the navigation 👍 I’m trying to get better at it too-just off out right now into the New Forest with my map and compass-bit easier than finding your way around the Peak District! I’m taking my stove for a spot of lunch out there 😍
Thanks for the video Athena & Harvey. That is my favourite side of Kinder.
Ace i literally did this same walk yesterday. But in reverse. Was much foggier on Sunday though. Still my favourite side of kinder. Avoids the busier areas but goes darker sooner as north facing. Stay cool you two!
Coffee ✔ Banana pancakes ✔ This video ✔ The best way to start a Saturday ✔ ❤
Beautiful scenery:)
Great vid! 👍
Great vlog, thanks 👍
Love you guys. Thanks for sharing. Can't think of a better way to start my day here in NYC, in the " concrete jungle " as we call it. Inspired me to explore areas of Central Park I haven't seen before. 🍁🍂
Loved it!
Cracking vid folks......My daughter loves the mountains and instead of tagging along after me I am trying to teach her how to read a map and navigate in the hills and have recommended your channel......however I think she will just gravitate to the Oslo and baking videos.....lol
Very good video.Well presented by both of you.I have done the southern edge of Kinder this year Jacobs Ladder Grindsbrook Clough & Crowden Clough all breathtaking walks.Goal next year to do the Northern edge to Kinder this video has helped immensely. There is a good Facebook group called Lets Go Peak District Group to join there are loads of good walks in the Peaks in there.
Been there many times. Lucky to live in the Peak District.
Love the video 😎👍🏻
Great video as usual. With your ml are you planning on doing instructing. I’d did spa, ( climbing) and mltb training. I used to teach windsurfing, canoeing and kayaking, dingy sailing, powerboat/jetski stuff. Mountain biking. All great fun, peaks great for picking up freelance work from various centres were lucky to have on the doorstep. Good luck
A brilliant way to start the day, a cup of tea in bed whilst coming round and watching another brilliant video, keep it up. Is there any chance of Harvey doing a video of his drone ? Cheers.
It was really nice to meet you on kinders northedge today cheers

Nice to meet you too!
Good video and music
Thank you for sharing this :)
Hello again bumped into you Thursday, as you had nearly completed your walk. I mistook your trailhound for a foxhound. PS we came up Nether Red Brook Clough
Hi. Thanks you three !! I always look forward to, and enjoy your vlogs. Great day out on the hills, beautiful shots, sound, music and lovely editing skills ! I am about to upgrade to a better camera, microphone and gimbal, can I ask, what is working best for you? Cheers Don
Lovely video, as always! I totally agree about the importance of making time to get outdoors...especially during these weird times. I'm quite jealous as I live in the city and don't have a car so at the moment it's quite impossible for me to get to good hiking but...I go on a lot of hike rides to nice spots BUT I'm struggling to stay warm enough so wanted to ask about the difference between the jacket you have here (I checked it out via the link) and the Patagonia down sweater hoody which you've also mentioned. I'd love something like and packable but...warmth is of course also super important. Also would be keen to know if you have good recs for boots for colder weather. Hope that's not too much work but if so, no worries! I'm trying to do lots of research on my own. Thanks for taking us along!
Nice video and interesting for your viewers to see some real navigation broken up into manageable legs with clear targets, like the watercourses. Maybe a trek across the featureless Kinder plateau on a compass bearing would be a good exercise for you & the viewers, although I'd certainly wait for a dry summers or hard frosty winters day or you could end up waist deep in water on the pathless plateau.I led a group across in summer and some members were thigh deep in water in parts as we crossed the plateau from Crowden to Kinder Downfall. Great fun negoitating & jumping across all the small watercourses but not one for the inexperienced. Keep up the good work and look forward to the next video😊
What I love about your videos is how you go hiking in cold weather and weather that might be considered rubbish by some. Its so inspiring seeing you just get on and go walking regardless of the weather. How long were you out for on this walk out of interest? How much time do you spend walking on a normal week and weekend? Oslo is great and Harvey is a natural at vlogging as well. Great inspiring channel. Thank you. Xx
What sumptuous countryside! Oslo seems the ultimate mountain hound - perhaps he should handle the navigation? Mind you, you'd probably end up down a rabbit hole rather than on the banks of a brook! Thanks again for the wonderful videos.
Nav practice is fun. Of course with scenery like you have it is pretty amazing. Have you ever tried it in the snow when features and landmarks are not as prominent? I like that range card with the time and distances on it too.
Nice video, love the scenery and the photography and the choice of music. It would be nice for Harvey to give some details of the drone and his experiences flying it. I'm sure a lot of people have a drone on their Christmas list and would appreciate some insights into flying one.
Great, thanks
Really cool little navigation tool for your timings! Any idea where to pick on up currently I've just got all my pacings scribbled down
Would love to see you cook!
Hi Athena,Hi Harvey, Love your vids, Peace 👋
Thank you
I camped with my son about 400m from Kinder Gates in weather like that a few weeks ago. Kinder is a special place. Predicting the time to cover distance in the peat bog is really difficult.
That's another really great video and very well produced. Really enjoying your videos and everything else and have even been inspired to do some serious walking during the past month with my partner, in spite of the arthritis in my ankle. Keep up the great work! PS. How far was this walk?
Great video thank you!!! Harvey can you tell me what the blue orange hoodie/ jacket u are wearing is called please. Ive searched the Patagonia site but can’t find it!
Wonderful video 🥰 makes me wanna drive into the Alps right now!! I'm new on your channel, so am I allowed to ask what country that is? ☺️ Have a beautiful day 💚

Hey hey! Yes it's England. The Peak District in fact - about an hour from Manchester :)
You are most definitely always inspiring and captivating with your editing, music as well as local information. What cameras are you using?
I used to do the same exercises.... good to know the skills necessary to navigate in the mountains. But now these days I prepare my hikes in Movescount, sync them to my Suunto Traverse GPS watch, download them to my iPhone and head out. Use my GPS-watch to navigate, my iPhone as a back-up navigator and carry a reserve battery pack just in case. No more maps and compass for me ...
Enjoying this vicariously, I must ask is there any chance your book will be available electronically?
Great video as always. Make me laugh though as an ad popped up about climate change with the text across the screen saying "were all screwed" just as Athena said "it should be fairly obvious". Lol
I’ve been meaning to do a similar route but the other way round for a couple of months but the Forestry Commission have loads of signs up in Ashop Valley by the snake pass saying the trails are closed, meaning it’s basically impossible to get up to Kinder from the road and woods by the old Snake Inn and the car park further up. Unless I’m missing a way up?
Gosh, can I be Oslo? 😅 He’s a lucky doggy going on all these great walks!
Don't forget to add on an additional minute for every contour line you walk! 🤣😉 Xx
You sure are a likeable trio. 👍🙂
That little tool to calculate the walking time looks really useful. Do you have a pdf file of that by any chance?
