The Monte Popena hike in the Dolomites is one of my favourite and is less known amongst tourists. There are some challenging parts if you take the circuit that is shown in this video but overall it is an intermediate hike with some advanced sections. It is relatively short and can be completed in around 4 hours with a 500m vertical drop. At the top of the pass there is an old World War One ruin that shows the history of the region. Overall the panoramic views on this hike are amongst the best in the Dolomites.
