Hiking Over the Pyrenees in 36 Days (Part 5, GR11, Documentary)

In the fifth part of my Pyrenees Gr11 thru-hike from the Mediterranean sea to the Atlantic ocean, I hike from the Ordesa Valley to Ochagavia. Over there I spent the last days in the higher Pyrenees, with some magnificent views and rainstorms.

I did a round from Gavarnie to Vignemale to Ordesa and back to Gavarnie in 2017. The Ordesa floor is definitely overcrowded. I did the eastern side of the canyon wall on the Faja de Pelay, which was better than the canyon floor, but a friend who lives in the area, told me I should have taken the La Faja de las Flores, up on the western wall, which not as many people take, and is supposed to be spectacular. In 2012 I walked from Lesson to Gavarnie, to. The Pyrenees are definitely among my favorite mountains, though I do really love the Japan Alps, here where I live. I'm enjoying your videos. I'm looking forward to upcoming trips!

Retrospective questions: If you needed to walk through GR11 again, what would you leave home (from your current setup)? What would you change? What would you improve? Thanks!

Doing the whole trip in 25 days would be nothing short of impressive 😅 but if you aren't planning on doing the whole trip, start in Irun, at the Atlantic, and walk as far as you can. 😉
