Hiking in Mount Olympus, Greece

Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece and the second highest in the Balkans, after Rila in Bulgaria. A compact yet enormous mass that imposingly dominates the borders of Macedonia and Thessaly.
An important area that has special biodiversity, in 1938 it was declared as the first national park in Greece. It is a mountain known all over the world due to the fact that in mythology and according to the ancient Greek religion, the Twelve Gods chose to inhabit it. Every year thousands of nature lovers visit Mount Olympus to admire the beauty of its nature and to enjoy hiking its slopes and conquering its peak.

It’s on my bucket list to climb this mountain. I don’t care if I’m 90 years old and have to use a walking cane, I’m doing it. Oh how I wish.

I've always wanted to climb Mt. Olympus; thanks for the vicarious journey. Perhaps, someday, I will be able to join the ranks of others and be a true hiker to the summit.

Hello Felipe! I think they speak only English. Communication? If you mean telephone, you don't have access, as there is no phone signal.
Does someone know if it's allowed to wild camp in the area? Or are you obliged to make use of the refugses?

@@2580robocop to the first refuge is about 2,5 hours and after that you need 2 more to the second, or 3+ to the top of the mountain

He means the real Macedonia...the ancient one, in Greece. Don't be confused with the Slavic state north of Macedonia.

yea you ( i mean greek politick) stole our history, conquer our land force our people to change names surnames, etc. change names of cities, rivers, mountains and etc. fascist. ye we are the real Macedonian and yes ur right we didn't have a religion but after Jesus died apostle Pavle came and bring the religion and by us, we share the language and now more than 15 countries can speak some form of Macedonian aka Slavic language but don't wry because times remember everything and someday will come and our people will live in one country and one border I don't want to offend u man, i just want some real thing what happened after 2 world war and forcing our people to become YOU( i mean greek civilization) from 1946-50 we don't forget. that's not going to happen we are DIFFERENT
