Mandy's a keeper I can't count the number of guys I used to wilderness canoe trip with who once they were married momma bear in no uncertain terms laid down the law no wilderness camping stuff. They wanted posh rooms, showers, hot tubs and no canoeing for days in the bush with bugs and tents. I, too, was lucky my wife loved that stuff. My kids as babies grew up in the bottom of our canoe, and we even had special paddles carved for their size. Good on both of you.

The last ten was as a Charge Nurse. My wife Caryl retired last year after her thirty years in Medical Insurance Precertification for a large Medical Group. Lol. I had to put the kids to work. My daughter's live with me. My oldest is 20, and my youngest is 18. He was spoiled.

I love that Mandi allowed herself to be in this weeks' video! I can tell she is very hesitant to be on camera, but it gets easier. I had never thought to just grab some simple cooking provisions and head off into the woods for a day hike and do this. This is a great idea, and has sparked some ideas on where this would be really fun to go do. I love the North Shore, there isn't beauty like it anywhere else in the midwest for sure. Thanks Kenny!

I love the Minnesota/Wisconsin accent. Being from “The South” (KY) and people say we have an accent is funny. We put accent on the first syllable of Hammock and you put it on the 2nd syllable. I had wondered if you unloaded your camper week days. We seldom unload when we are on a trip, but a truck camper is the ultimate solution!

My wife and daughter and I always head to the north shore every year for a week - lake superior is certainly something special

This past weekend we were boondocking in our truck camper, and I realized just how much work it would be to film that and create a video each week. Wow! Hey Kenny. I was surprised to see you. I went on youtube to check the news and there you were. And we got to see both you and your lady. I had to smile when Mandy was laughing. There is no better feeling when you can make your Lady laugh. I really liked the high mountain tops you videoed. That country really reminds me of Penna. I really enjoyed the time you both allowed us to spend with you and the beautiful woods. Now, being old,you have to expect the old guy to reminisce. In 1980 my wife and two kids and my dear brother and his wife and three kids moved, for the first time to Montana.. Twin Bridges, Montana, to be exact. Our Dad's best friend from Penna had moved there years ago and bought a restuarant, and his other friend, a very good carpenter, had moved there years earlier too. They all played guitars and played in country bands in the 40's and 50's back in Penna.My brother Dave and I were almost to the top of Old Baldy, a mountain right out of town, hunting elk. And, it was cold, at least for two young guys from Penna. It was about 15 below. We had never seen it more than 9 below in Penna, once in our lives, and that was cold. We were hiking up a trail and came across two guys also hunting elk. We stopped to talk and when we mentioned how cold we were, they just started laughing..We grinned and said, "What?" They said, "Cold?" Hell, we are from Minnesota, where it gets cold for real." I still remember what they said and how they both looked after all these years. They told us how cold it gets there, but that it was a damp cold, like Penna. I decided then that Minnesota wasn't anyplace I was ever going to live, lol. Tell Mandy our daughter has been a phlebotomist for over 20 years and our granddaughter recently graduated from the Univ of Montana and works as a nurse. Take care you two and be well and be happy.. Have you ever cooked your brats in "sauce"? A stick of butter, 12 oz of beer, and a medium onion (sliced). Boil 'em until cooked, grill them for a little char, and then back in the sauce until you're ready to eat. Those beer-butter-onions on the bun with the brat are pretty amazing.

Such a lovely adventure you and Mandi enjoyed together. Thank you for giving us a peek. I love Grand Marais and The Superior National Forest and The Gunflint Trail! We are so blessed to have these amazing places in our state to enjoy. Last Fall my husband and I were on an adventure up there and were about 20 minutes into our drive on the Gun Flint when I spied a mama moose and her baby wading in a pond enjoying a snack. What an absolute thrill that was!

We have never seen a moose in Minnesota. We usually visit in November and drive the forest trails off the Gun Flint in hopes of catching a glance. It's so cool that you saw one.

Those brats sound amazing! Will have to look for these when I'm over in Michigan again this summer. As you will know from your visit to Germany, they do brats here too but I wish we had flavours like that. Thank you Kenny and Mandi for bringing us along.
