Hiking Archer Mountain In The Columbia River Gorge | A Scenic Journey

On April 14, 2024 my fiancé and I hiked Archer Mountain on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge. This was a really great hike with far less crowds than other viewpoint hikes in the Gorge. Here is some more info about this trail: www.oregonhikers.org/field_gu...

Great views of a magical place. Every time I see the Gorge, I immediately start making plans to go there again. 😊 Also, cool to see the Mr. along for the trip! Be well!

A bit hazy out but still decent views. Hasn't been a good spring this year. Cloudier, rainier, and cooler than normal. At least to me it's been that way in Northern Oregon/Southern Washington. It's the steep hikes that keep the crowds away. But if you want those views of the gorge you have to earn them.

I'm AMAZED you did not mention that this is where the Eagle Creek Fire of 2017 jumped the Columbia River! I did it sometime shortly after and the burn marks were clearly visible among the trees (though maybe you need to head out via quiver point to see this?). Anyway, glad you got out to our side of the river :)

I didn’t know this little fact about the hike. I randomly found this hike because someone posted pics on Facebook. I didn’t know much about it.

Wow that's great. How did you find this place? If its uncrowded its not well known, or really really hard.

It's not difficult, it's about 1,500 elevation gain I did it a couple of years ago with my dog. Not sure why it isn't more popular to be honest but if you are used to hiking in the gorge you'll have no problem though some view points are overgrown & a bit sketchy. Look for Archer Mountain Trail on All Trails for reviews

It took us 3.5 hours total but we did a bunch of stops and even FaceTimed my dad in Germany at the top. Trail is very well marked.
