I can be like, 'okay i got this, just move there, there. Thats trapped, take' when watching him. When starting my own game I can nvr get into those positions.

@@megamind8027 I actually do, I'm a 1700 on lichess but I swear I be making moves my opponents NEVER make on me. I'm sick with tactics. Problem is im insanely aggressive so I'm always forgetting to defend whatever my opponent is attacking. Okay, obviously not hikaru level lol. But I've bookmarked tons of games where I'm like these tactics could be in a KZread vid, Eric Rosen style. I find the sexiest puzzle rush type moves a lot

22:52: No. AlphaZero, and literally every single other chess engine for that matter, plays as if it were playing against itself. This means that when it is down material or having to save the game, it doesn't try to be tricky because it always thinks the opponent will see it. Instead, it plays to try to exaggerate the game's length as long as possible. Conveniently, this usually makes the bot play a lot of counterplay, because the counterplay that it makes the opponent will have to deal with before being able to attack, which exaggerates the game's length. Inconveniently, this makes it play for draws, which might not work in games were it could've won by being tricky. There is actually a solution to this, which is kinda complicated but still possible. There is a little known chess engine called Maia, and it tries to find the most human moves from 1100-1800 ELO. If Maia-1800, the highest rated Maia, was merged with Stockfish, Stockfish would be able to come up with extremely tricky lines that most 1800 ELO players would miss! This would actually be a very useful tool for coming up with lines in high rated events. I'd like to see a programmer(s) try to do that sometime.

Hikaru starts with 3 minutes on the clock and finishes with 4, that's pretty amazing

The best series you have ever made. It is seriously so helpful to see what you do against the low ELOs. Please more speedruns maybe a bullet speedrun next.

Hikaru is so right about that. It's like when you play bots or computers on weak settings, sometimes you will still not find the correct line simply because when they blitz the move out you'll think either you must have blundered, you didn't play as strong of a move as you thought you did, or they are very confident that the move they just played was the best. That psychology is quite effective.

Well said! My friend has told me she had difficulty with bots. I was perplexed since these were low rated bots. But then, I watched her play and it clicked as to the reason. Basically exactly as you said it here

bots are very tricky, sometimes they just do stupid stuff, and sometimes when ur attacking they know exactly how to defend and ur attack is gone

nah this guy is on another level, be it 1500s or 1800s, be confident or not, you will get crushed by super gm in under 20 moves. Its all about skill and experience, and in case of super gms, immense talent
