The kettle thing is genius. The more power drawn the more the generators making the power feel resistance. Don't get enough extra generators spun up on the network fast enough and you have to just disconnect sections of the network to save the generators. Kettles turning on during ad breaks and especially in the half time of football matches has long had to be taken into account on the grid. If Russia pulled that stunt at 3am it could be very costly.
