Captain Flip Welman and his partner received info of stolen vehicles. As they approached the suspects started fleeing at high speed. A wild chase ensued which ended up in one suspect being wounded seriously. Stay tuned for more videos from THE BIKE COP.

Our actions are in line with the South African Criminal Procedure Act, The PSIRA Act, The National Road Traffic Act and other relevant regulations.
Under certain conditions such as displayed in many videos the responding members may seem to contravene certain laws. However when responding to schedule 1 offences there are grounds of justification provided for such acts, however these members will always take into concidderation the safety of those around them.
ARRESTS BY PRIVATE PERSONS
Any private person (not law enforcement official) in South Africa may arrest someone for “any collaborating, enticing to commit a crime” [2|3|5], such as within the list schedule 1 offences as per the Criminal Procedure Act of 1977 , Law 51 [2|3], and Criminal law amendment of 2007, section 3 and 4.
42 Arrest by private person without warrant
(1) Any private person may without warrant arrest any person-
(a) who commits or attempts to commit in his presence or whom he reasonably suspects of having committed an offence referred to in Schedule 1;
(b) whom he reasonably believes to have committed any offence and to be escaping from and to be freshly pursued by a person whom such private person reasonably believes to have authority to arrest that person for that offence;
(c) whom he is by any law authorized to arrest without warrant in respect of any offence specified in that law;
(d) whom he sees engaged in an affray.
(2) Any private person who may without warrant arrest any person under subsection (1) (a) may forthwith pursue that person, and any other private person to whom the purpose of the pursuit has been made known, may join and assist
therein.
(3) The owner, lawful occupier or person in charge of property on or in respect of which any person is found committing any offence, and any person authorized thereto by such owner, occupier or person in charge, may without warrant arrest the person so found.
Manner and effect of arrest
Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977 Arrest - Art 39
(1) An arrest shall be effected with or without a warrant and, unless the person to be arrested submits to custody, by actually touching his body or, if the circumstances so require, by forcibly confining his body.
(2) The person effecting an arrest shall, at the time of effecting the arrest or immediately after effecting the arrest, inform the arrested person of the cause of the arrest or, in the case of an arrest effected by virtue of a warrant, upon demand of the person arrested hand him a copy of the warrant.
(3) The effect of an arrest shall be that the person arrested shall be in lawful custody and that he shall be detained in custody until he is lawfully discharged or released from custody.

Dear South African drivers, if you hear emergency sirens please make way for the vehicles to pass. That Toyota Corola driver nearly made the thief get away by getting in front of the police and taking time to make way. Nonetheless great work from the team, they handled the car well and kept updating others about their whereabouts

Im surprised how capable and agile that Fortuner was, many times i thought the height and weight will make the skelms loose control, but yeah good driver and good car. most importanlty well done to the cops in the 1.4, good driving and tracking.
the driver really did a good job to keep up, almost got lost twice. wow

The cops need to have cars that have good ground clearance and lots of power. This is why America has moved towards police using modified SUVs. This chase only lasted so long because the car they were in is too low and too slow.

Once the Capt is pursing you in a chase, just know that you will be arrested,😅. His not scared of criminals at all.
Well done, to hit the target at that speed/maneuvers is excellent, taking in consideration that there are pedestrians and bystanders all over. People don't understand the risks taken under enormous pressure and stress. Well done to driver and crew.
Hats off to you guys,you are putting your lives on the line for our country and keeping these criminals off our streets and you are doing a wonderful job and I just wish our police force as a whole was as effective as you guys are. We appreciate what you do!!!

I'm still in disbelief on how that suspension held up and even better the brakes did not seem to overheat, it stopped when he stopped it.. Credit to both the driver and co-driver/navigator.

Sadly, Stoffel, the bike cop passed away. Pta North’s heroic supercop to be laid to rest Warrant Officer Stoffel Holtzhausen, who was also fondly referred to as a hero and supercop, died last week in an accident when he swerved his motorbike to avoid a pedestrian and subsequently hit a tree.

Dawesy, I have to apologize! Due to my assumption, and u know what assumptions cause, and due to a geographical area pointing by me, I assumed Capt. Welman was not the cop doing the shootings, as u put it, one handed. This video is actually of the one and same policeman who has the older videos of the biker cop. He is not deceased. W/O Stoffel Holtzhauzen also has videos of his work on utube with his name as channel, but it is not him doing the one handed shooting. I apologize vehemently for my bugger up!

Here in the u.s. most police wouldn't be allowed to have a high speed pursuit like that. Because the risk of harming some innocent bystanders is so high. And if an innocent person was injured the lawyers would have a field day suing the police. But I'm glad to see the bad guy was caught, excellent outcome!

NICE TO HEAR THE SIRENS! Better than the car horns .It's too bad that that they haven't been able to interconnect the cameras and electronic maps to aid and cut down on the length of pursuit. Word of caution, that second officier(?) should have observed further precaution AFTER the first one walked away, then he also turned his back on the driver which appeares to leave him without sufficient cover. If the officer was a 'NoJack', please caution him on this practice. At the point the driver came out of the vehicle, one must assume that there IS a firearm hidden from sight. We are taught that at that time, apprehension is secondary to officer safety, thus the driver should have been under constant barrel restraint until a second LEO was covering fully. Only after the driver was searched fully while being covered should any officer possibly downgrade the level of caution. Great driving all around.
