I'm not sure Dan Coles will be loving a pod of Doris Conan Sheehan and Furlong running at him on 60 minutes with Lowe Henshaw and Ringrose out the back sweeping round. Leinster are going to play fast I wouldn't advise testing your fittest against them get into as many scrums and mauls as possible then hang on for dear life.

As a Leinster fan it is the one tie I did not want. If Leicester can stop the ball supply to Leinster by really attacking the breakdown ( as they can) then Leinster are in for long day . Only good thing is Leinster are off to South Africa to play two good hard games there against good opposition so, will be battle ready for the quarter finals. It is setup for a great game .

Smith is an excellent player who is having a 10 out of 10 season but Ford is currently playing 11 or 12 out of 10, he looks unplayable. Ford was just not in form last season and getting started for England, now his form is white hot and he doesn't even get a sniff. It ridiculous, if you ask me. I'd make them compete to bring the best out of the backline, which is lacklustre at best, that would be a win win.

Welcome to the new rugby mode....15 v 15 has become so stodgy due to defenses cancelling each other out and World Rugby can't get rid of flankers to open space up like Rugby League did, so no they are happy to send players off and sin bin them to create space. Teams will have to adapt as this is the future.

Ref and the TMO make a pretty bad mistake with the yellow for Clermont no 17, at 3:09 you see him unbind as the maul is wheeling towards him. He re-joins at 3:11 in an onside position and the Maul keeps wheeling to a right angle way from him, so at 3:15 you see him clearly still onside, unbind and re-binding from the defensive side of the maul. The Leicester players then break off as the maul wheels back the other way, they then surge to the tryline and pull 17 along with them. Proper harsh decision and i'm a tigers fan

Honestly I'm finding rugby has got duller with the greater influx of red cards. I get that they want to shore up concussion issues but it feels like an over-correction. Over 80 minutes players have to tackle-tackle-tackle. They have to make dominant tackles, and at times make desperate tackles to stop people. All while fitness is waining and match pressure mounts. No matter how many coaching sessions someone has, that opens a gap for a flawed tackle in real time I don't think it's a game where most players will perfect their technique under this pressure. Therefore games are just gonna be card-fests. It's frustrating and made rugby a more dull sport for it. Yes keep concussion-aware protocols in, but more wisdom on how to keep a physical sport a sport would be great too.

Chessum's hit is never red, the impact is primarily on the shoulder and the Clermont player is leaning in to him. He should definitely be lower but its not a reckless or dangerous hit. He rides up in the tackle and makes head contact, which is a yellow, at worst.

I even got more than a few high shots seeing as I am 5'6 and played with and against guys 6'10 trying to get low to tackle me. Never once have I cried about it or seen any problem unless something was malicious. Sure the game has moved on since when I played but, and this is the critical part before you get all feisty, 'in my opinion' they have over corrected and need to look at what is happening and why so many card are being given out for some really weak, hair splitting reasons. As I said, the number of cards being given out has dramatically increased which was my original point and which is why I think they need to take another look at why.

don't see how leicesters is a red, that's high yes but its shoulder on shoulder at worst..... all the rounds of 16 have had massive differences in reds. rochelais vs bordeaux, wayne barnes gives red for shoulder charge of the ball, probably a yellow at best and a yellow for a shoulder to the head that probably should have been a red. As for Leicester vs Leinster, that game will be decided on discipline and that's were Leicester will slip up. A red or even a yellow against them will be disastrous.... and Leicester's discipline still seems to be an issue.
