Great game at the end, I am glad for Chels to get the equalizer, they deserved it, they were such a better team this evening.

Stressful for sure when wolfs went 3 ....1 up I had to stop watching for Io minutes go in another room came back miss Bright goal but Stress levels Was down , just about calm down now 🥴😊

Much like the 3-3 draw against WBA last season. 3 mistakes goal conceded, only tk to be equalised in the injury time, even after dominating the whole game. But Hopefully, like the men's team last season, this team will go on to win the Champions League!!!

Never would've thought Wolfsburg had a chance at beating Chelsea on their home ground. Granted, Chelsea did most of the work, but still an impressive result.

In women's football Wolfsburg kinda is the bigger team - they did win the Champions League twice and lost a few finals, whereas Chelsea only reached the final once and lost 4-0 when they did... Granted, Chelsea have the more expensive and better team these days, but in women's football Woldsburg is a bit more like Barcelona was in men's football when they still had Messi last year - in decline, but still a top European side that can beat almost anyone on a good day...

Well, of the 5 Chelsea vs Wolfsburg (at Chelsea home ground) matches before this one, Wolfsburg have won 4, Chelsea 1... Historical stats only say so much but would've thought Wolfsburg's record here might've had you contemplating the possibility...

I'm only now and slowly getting into European-stage Women's Football, so I didn't know about historical statistics. Before the match I only read an interview with Wolfsburg's currently injured top striker Alex Popp, saying Chelsea would be the top team in the group and Wolfsburg would be lucky to have a chance. Thus my comment.

@@jtlampsu2 well, it werent home and away games - it was all games in Budapest. they were fully dominated by Wolfsburg in both legs. In 1st leg especially, Chelsea got very lucky as Wolfsburg couldnt convert their multiple chances (hit the post twice). It was typical smash and grab win for Chelsea (one of their goals were similar to what Wolfsburg scored in this game). In 2d leg - poor ref gave questionable penalty (foul on sneaky Kerr if it was one happened outside) in early mins so it messed up Wolfsburg game.

Chelsea played against themselves

What an interesting game that was 🙌

The Chelsea mistakes were bad. But what was worse was how they took the foot off the gas after the first Wolfsburg goal. They might have been a bit stunned but their pressure and energy (which was impressive and clearly too much for Wolfsburg in the first 15 mins) just dissipated. If they had kept the pressure up it would've been a very different game: 5-1 or 6-1 to Chelsea.

well, it takes two to tango. Wolfsburg adjusted well to the game after first 15 mins and kept game mostly under control aftrewards. and created better chances. could've been 5-2 early in 2d half.

But what are all these dangerous slow passes through the middle by both teams, right before or in the own 16m

Probably. Have arguably strongest squad in group; strong favourite against Servette and favourite against Juventus. Wolfsburg at home Chelsea should be favourite but after this game seems a 50/50 proposition.

@@Stefano19otto1 Oh, I'm not underestimating Juventus, believe me. I agree they may be underestimated by many and Chelsea may be in for a tough game next week. But still think Chelsea are favourites (at least across both games) with a stronger squad on paper.

Chelsea deserved to get something out of that game as they did so much attacking and had the chances. Kept going to the end and earned a point. But Wow, they've got to sort those mistakes out at the back. Very avoidable. Hopefully Maren Mjelde will be back very soon to strengthen the defence.

@@johniyire8419 Never seen 3 mistakes lead to all the opponents goals the second one was pure stupidity already a wolfsburg player in the box then berger passes it 15 metres to a player with an opponent adjacent to her real dumb if u wanted to pass to her to send it to her left a couple metres away even that risky. Berger needs to be dropped and give telford a run. Sure Chelsea should easily qualify for knockout stages but with this leaky defense not beating the likes of Lyon, PSG or Barcelona.

@@aryanyudha9264 we have been trying the three at the back this season but I think when Maren is fit to play we will go back to four. I know we want to play from the back but I think we should be smart enough to know when we can't and just play the ball long. You see it with the men as well. When a team decides to press we don't need a manager to tell us to change. I remember a similar situation with Jorghino when a ball was played to him with pressure and we conceded. The keeper has the best view. Even if the Leopolz is coming for the ball Berger could have seen the two players on her back and made a different pass.

Well done at the end. It won't be an easy group with Juventus visit next.

Popp and Pajor will comeback after the winter break which is January..but Bremer will probably be ready in december..wolfsburg still a top team but if Chelsea didn't make mistakes and play at their best,on paper they still have the better squad and should get result from them..

@@ainoSValencia Agree on paper, but Hayes' management (defensive choices being just one example) troubles me. Also, Chelsea stepped up the speed and pressure and were too much for Wolfsburg to handle in the first 15 mins of this game; but then Wolfsburg scored and Chelsea seemed stunned and didn't regain their dominance until the last 5-10 mins or so. Away it's going to be harder for Chelsea to maintain the intensity...

@@bd9531 i agree with Chelsea defense,they're still figuring out who's the best choice in defense,personally i would like Mjelde to play as the CCB replacing Carter,but if she still needs a little bit of time to be a starter bcoz of her injury then i hope Emma will give Nouwen the chance to play as part of the back 3,she got the heights and speed and she's a natural CB..and probably play Musovic next game just to lit up a fire in Berger and as a warning that if you don't perform there'll be someone who is ready to take your place... yeah they should've keep the pressure until they scored at least 3 goals but it is what it is,glad that it's still a first match from group stage,think of this as a wake up call for them.. No doubt wolfsburg probably will play better in december especially at home,but it's the same for Chelsea,from what i've known they always play shit in the early part of the season and stepped up a gear entering the later part of the season,i still fancy their chances,but as long as they go through from the group stages it'll be okay as long as they don't meet Barcelona in the knock out stages 😅

Anyway, I wouldn't want to be Leicester at Kingsmeadow on Sunday but Juventus away in a week should be interesting...

@@ainoSValencia on paper they have maybe slightly in better form forwards in Kerr and Harder but rest no so sure. fairly even. probably, Wolfsburg having better midfield. and defense of Chelsea not top class. and full-backs are dodgy. And Wolfsburg attackers are also top class. Bremer was top goalscorer in WSL in 2020 before pandemic. She's coming from injury so still might be not the same form. but anyway. and Smiths was top goalscorer in Dutch league. Not big name but will score goals. Then Blomquist and Huth and Wassmuth, all international players. if they dont have big hype like Harder doesnt mean they not at same top level, they are. Then you have Roord as AM. Chelsea should prepare for attacking onslaught.

Remember when somebody was saying that is not competitive 4-0 and now 3-3 I not remember who was the person 🗣🗣😂😂😂😂😂🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🤾⚽️🤣🤣🤣.

Barcelona won the Champions League because Wolfsburg and Lyon had covid problems last season, especially Lyon, who played with the substitute teams in the Champions League, which is why they were eliminated. The Spanish women's league only won 1 champions in its history.

I'm sorry but this is an awful standard of football, and yet it's the elite of women's football. I know from watching a lot of the WSL that this is not an isolated situation, it's full of poor finishing, poor defending and poor goalkeeping. Anyone who thinks I'm harsh just watch the highlights from the BBC and you'll see for yourselves. As an examples recently Villa v Man U and the lob given away by the keeper was another recently, so was West Ham 2 v 0 City. Before anyone accuses me of being harsh or worse, why is women's football awful when women's tennis and hockey off the top of my head are of a superb standard, I'm aware women's football hasn't been going as long but these are professionals, women's hockey in this country is still amateur but of a much higher standard.

@@jtlampsu2 I watch it and WSL games so I can have an informed opinion. The first thing people say if you debate women's football is "have you watched many women's games then"? They fully expect me to say no, but as a football fan I'll watch football at any level. I refuse to pay the money to watch Sky or similar, women's football is one of the few platforms where it is free to watch on a regular basis, but I'll call it out for what it is as I said in first post. Partly because I see very little critical analysis of the women's game at elite level, all you ever read is how the game is growing etc and the women's game should have equality with everything men's football has is another recent news item you may have seen on the basis of equality, presumably. Using VAR as an example, only the top levels and international football have VAR, not the Championship or lower which draws in so much more TV revenue (because it's a better product than the WSL), if the Championship can't have it, then nor should the WSL. Then you've got wages, you regularly hear arguments on how women should be paid the same as men, in my view wages are dictated by the revenue that it earns, whether it's men's or women's football.

well, it's not best league in the world or Europe. not just yet. not so quickly as english media wants us to believe. it takes time. English woso still suffers from a lot of focus on physicality. Long ball football persists in many teams.

Ex Arsenal Janssen and Roord dominate Chelsea.
