@@Carlo42 "The ball had not bounced away before Hogg was tackled" It is absolutely clear from the replay that the ball most certainly did bounce sharply to the left before contact from ALB. "Any time the last defensive player is behind the attacking player it will be a penalty try." Where is this from? You are simply making it up. There is a simple question the referee has to ask himself. But for the infringement by ALB would Hogg probably have scored? It's just silly to say that the bounce of the ball didn't matter. It did actually happen and it happened before the infringement. If the ball had not kicked to the left it was a much simpler decision.
Scotland are a really good side, love what they are doing. Big breaks, classy side. NZ did an amazing job defending on the line, the world's best keep off our line and turn the ball. We've seen this a lot from NZ and Papalii'i is more than likely a major part of that. All the players from NZ and Scotland, good luck.
Thought this would be a hiding after 10 mins but Scotland played really well. Papali'i has to stay at 7. He brings more than Cane and Whitelock is a better captain so there's really no place for him on the team. Maybe his experience for world Cup would help, who knows.

yup. Half a dozen men screaming for it in the clear. It was butchered.
Respect to Scotland for a great fight. However, as a Kiwi it's comforting to know that even with all their foreign talent, playing on home soil, & leading for most of the game, Scotland still cannot beat the All Blacks. Some poor kicking decisions & execution, & ill discipline let NZ down, but the bench was able to turn things around. Stand outs for me were TJ & Papali'i. Scott & Jordie B' were solid & made an impact. Clarke was never really given the space to shine, but still gave NZ some much needed "go-forward" ball. Mark Telea had a dream debut. I expect we will be seeing much more of him. On a different note - It continues to piss me off how in the North, jacklers are allowed a hand on the ground, while in the South this is illegal. One rule for the South, a different rule for the North. I'm not having a go at the Ref's (they do a stellar job) & you cant blame the players for playing to the Ref. World Rugby is to blame for their inaction & complacency regarding this. You don't have this North / South inconsistancy with any other sport, & Rugby is the same game with the same rules in both hemisphere's, so why should this inconsistency be tolerated...? As Rugby's governing body, World Rugby needs to act, & ensure that refereeing is consistent across both hemisphere's.

thats why the NH teams always have a NH ref when playing abs up north or even in nz now - any advantage over the abs they will take - the irish ref today was fair and played to NH rules - i prefer him to barnes any day - - as the commentators said the abs have to adapt to NH rules - i dont understand why the rules are different - rules of play should be the same globally
Awesome 💥💥❤️❤️
Well done, clinical ABs 🎉 Tight and touch from Scotland. Looked a riveting battle! 🏉 strong
Don't usually comment and have been a huge All Blacks supporter for a long long time, but I think Scotland was hard done by the refereeing here. I think a lot of the defensive penalties that favored the AB's at the breakdown were pretty easy to call as no clear release or should've been called as hands in the ruck or late attempts. I know it's split second decision making for the referee to call those things at breakdowns, but the rules revolving stealing the ball at the breakdown seemed really inconsistently enforced. I think this is an issue across all rugby and maybe the rules need to be refined to be clearer, because a lot of international games are being decided at the breakdown it seems. It just happens too often I see two cases of nearly identical steal attempts get called completely differently, and I think the players realize this too so it's leading to them just taking the risk cause who knows if they'll call what you're doing illegal. Great showing from both teams, but I feel the Scots got unlucky to not pull off a win here.

Wow. ABs dunnit NZAC style! Determined not to be the first to lose to Scotland, they had to do it the hard way. A profound lesson on how games at this level can turn on a pinhead. No matter what happens in their campaign from here, this game was a turning point for team psychology, morale, and grit. The steel was forged here. ALB's incredible attempt to stop that try was a highlight for me. Unlucky not to make the save of the year, unlucky to get yellowed, but lucky we got the slow-mo video showing just how elite the effort was. Also a brilliant first cap for Mark Talea. Foster’s inability to develop an effective center pairing and back-ups in 3 years is a massive failiure.

Under the pump right after half time when Scotland went ahead with a great try, the All Blacks went to work and ground their way back into winnable position. The bench, once again playing a pivotal role for the ABs to extend the misery of the Scottish home crowd as they put this game to bed in the dying minutes.. An odd decision right at the very end by Captain Whitelock to order the last penalty to be.kicked out to end.the game, when another 3 points were easily available from a handy position on field.. but still a clinical display of "never say die" rugby by the mighty All Blacks.. Looking forward to meeting the English next week..

Were we watching the same game ? I'm a kiwi and even I can see that the only reason the AB's were still in the game was the indiscipline of the Scots . 3 TIMES they threw us a lifeline . And you try to rub it in ? Quote "extend the misery of the Scottish home crowd "unquote . Really ? Perhaps another angle would be to say that we got a huge help from their indiscipline , and were very , very lucky . I don't want to call you one eyed , but if the shoe fits......

Crazy how all the people who are critical of the Blues midfield are so quiet 😂👍🏼
Scotland had NZ on ropes for a large part of that . They always find a way to bottle it tho
Just a super effort from the Scots. That is Pride. One loss is one closer to your eventual first win. Go the All Blacks.

I think you could count on one hand the number of times the AB's have conceded more than 20 consecutive points before. Great play from Scotland. Long periods of very average play from NZ, but I don't want to take anything away from Scotland.

The margin between the teams are still big enough now as it was over 20 years ago. The AB's had a couple of decades of total dominance, recently. Now the margin is back as it was during the 90s and 00s. Nothing to be embarrassed about. Still a team to be feared now as it is then.
Interesting game to watch; think Foster got his tactics wrong by going for a kicking game when his forward pack is growing more dominant, it clearly didn't pay off kicking straight back to the Scots when Hogg, VDM and Graham are solid high ball players, yet that was still the call throughout, meaning Beaudy's running game was completely unused, stripping a lot of his danger. Havili contributed little again, his kicking game lacklustre and has gone back to being just an average 12. With ALB off form as well, and Clarke continuing to be as easily shut down as a 90s computer, the backs just didn't show up. Telea was bright on debut and should snatch a spot from Reece in the 23 based on this performance. Jordie again solid at fullback and fully cementing his position as the backup goal kicker. Christie just not fast enough or aggressive enough to give the backs an edge. Forwards wise, Papalii surely owns the 7 jersey, and Savea phenomenal as always. Akira again a half-half performance, don't know if he or Frizell would be better really. Locks solid, that's never been the worry for NZ, and front row did decently, with Taukei 'aho just brilliant. For me the kicking game was a misjudgement, so was the game management. What have we learned? Use Beauden Barrett to organize a ball-in-hand running game, not a kicking game. Using Havili to run the kicking game is not good enough. The forward pack is starting to really click, so cohesion in midfield and a better running game will take it to the next level. Right now the backs for the England match should read: Smith-Mo'unga-Clarke-ALB-Rieko-Telea-Jordie Beauden's greatest asset against a tough team like England is his creativity and pace with ball in hand, so he needs to come off the bench in the second half to stretch a tiring England defence, especially if Mo'unga has failed to organize a successful attack. In this case then Perofeta off the bench to play with Barrett at fullback, so Jordie can shift to 12 and offer more explosiveness. This is a high-risk move of course, and would be my workaround for if England boss the first half. If not, trust Jordie at 15 to handle England's kicking game, then ALB to find the space for Rieko to strike.
The horrendous decision of a deliberate knock on and yellow killed Scotlands momentum. Scotland left about 3 tries out there too
Hopefully that's the last we'll see of Havili in a black jersey. I think Jordie is a great fit for 12 and this game should have given ALB some match fitness for him to get the 13 jersey. They'd make a great centre pairing.

Both you numb skulls are dreaming! "Injury pending" *REEKS* is now the main stay *Center* like Umaga and Nonu before him, he is also *versatile* n can be used on the wing if needed. He has versatility, speed, size and youth over ALB. ALB will need a serious injury too Reeks or Jordie and currently at best he'll probably come *off the bench* to be used for his *defense* come W.C Q.F's and Semi's. Comeback in 12 months post W.C bet I'm more right than you two dummies! 😂

Excellent game from Scotland. They showed heaps of class, but its an 80 min game, and this is where the ABs have been so good over the years. Glad there wasn't a Blow Out in the last quarter as the score reflects the quality of the Scottish performance.
Scotland should’ve maximized while the AB’s were against the ropes in the 30th minute of the 1st half. The Scots were literally less than 5 meters from the try line with penalty advantage and Russell tried to sneak a kick through. Why? They should’ve just held onto possession and force the AB into a potential yellow card penalty. Then opt for a scrum and keep the pressure from on as opposed to taking 3 points. Scotland the game was yours for the taking. The AB will punish you if you don’t take your opportunities.

A game is never won until the final whistle. I am Scots, but live in New Zealand, and they did what they thought was the right play. It would still have been an All-Black win. Should have, could have, would have, are irrelevant to what actually happened.
Wow, what a game!
Christie looked out of his depth. He'll get there, but, "No the now". Another 'W' for the most successful Southern Hemisphere Autumn touring side. A sub-concious focus on the English threat may have been in the back of some minds causing moments of un-solicited less than desirable play. BB had a shocker. The bar Must be raised and cleared easily in the training period leading up to the Twickenham clash, which it will be, I think.
ABs well off the mark. TJ was good. Savea the man as usual. Bench was good.
Telea can actually beat defenders compared 2 Reece and jordan that get set up by players inside them he finally got his shot and looked good as well shot mark 👌🏿 massey mafia

I wouldn't call an 8 point victory likely only because of a VERY harsh yellow card over one of the worst NH teams building nicely. AB's were once again, very lucky to get away with the win here. If this was an 8 point win over England, France or Ireland sure you take that, but it's Scotland, we should be putting 20-30 on these guys.
