    The concepts explained in here are incredibly valuable. I have been really wanting to tackle the higher ascension levels, but I kept falling on my face over and over. If I ever beat a run, it wasn't due to careful consideration, planning, and preparation. I was just getting lucky from time to time. Despite the losing, I really wanted to improve and learn to make better choices. Since watching this video (and a bunch of other runs/videos) I have been able to soar through ascension levels 5 - 15. Along the way, I've had consecutive wins, and at most, I think one of the levels took me like 3 runs to do. Just wanted to give a huge kudos to Jorbs for all of his hard work making these instructional videos for people like me who are really wanting to get better at the game. It has helped immeasurably.

    @@B3_6 I don't do spreadsheets generally. I mostly just paid attention to the thought processes behind choosing cards. After much play myself and watching 100s of hours of his runs, I find myself predicting his picks a lot more frequently. I notice synergies with relics and even potions much more than I did months ago. I don't think spreadsheets are the best way to approach the game if you're looking to enjoy it. Simply paying attention will improve things enough.

    Thanks for this Jorbs. I got hardstuck on A18 for silent and realized I needed to learn the game more instead of doing the same wrong things. This video is over a year old but after watching it, I took a lot of concepts and beat A18 in the same day. Thanks a lot and I look forward to watching more of your other videos.

    Just wanted to say thanks a lot for this video. I am a fairly new player and had been stuck on A5, but after watching this I smashed through it no problem. The main thing that helped was thinking about what my deck was lacking to deal with what was coming up, rather than cards I thought were good but didn't help. I learned to really evaluate what was offered and make good decisions.

    I'm about 36 minutes into the video and I'm already very impressed with your approach to decision making in this game. There's a "stay in the moment" element that runs alongside with how you plan to clear the run IMO and it's really refreshing, enlightening, and affirming in some ways. I've got about 200 hours in this game, but looking to improve my play to clear runs more consistently. Looking forward to more of your insight.

    In regards to making the decision about gaining gold in exchange for a curse, there's one specific reason why you want to hoard at least 200 gold before entering the shop: Membership Card. A permanent 50% discount on ALL services is a massive investment.

    Can we ask questions in the comments? On floor 2/3, getting a curse and maybe removing it means that all card removal costs more, meaning that 3 removals later you haven't gotten a benefit overall. Is it still a good investment to make near the beginning of the run even if it means you might lose money in the long term?

    what would you advise is an acceptable "equity tolerance" when playing purely for recreation? For example being willing to accept all decisions that result in a equity greater then 90%, prioritising fun in said zone. Would lead to having more fun, whilst still winning most runs and the occasional loss would likely be a "thats what we get for memeing" moment which doesn't hurt as much as a hard thought loss. I guess i've inadvertently decided my answer here. Interested on what you as a content creator might say, perhaps as low as 50-60%

  • @Jorbs

    i generally find the game most enjoyable when i win ~50% of the time. i think the reason for that isn't the winrate itself, but rather that the game is most fun when i don't know for sure if i'm going to win or lose yet - i'm required to think hard, and my decisions can have meaningful consequences still. that setting is most true when i have ~50% chance to win.

    I appreciate your video and watched the whole thing. I learned a lot! But if I may offer some criticism here... You talk about unrelated stuff a lot. The video is 3 hours long and could be cut significantly, to be honest. My biggest complaint, however: You seem to expect all the viewers to know every single relic in the game just by looking at them. You skip over some and don't hover over them so that I can see what they are, forcing me to either simply stay ignorant about what you just skipped or rewinding the video and pause it when you hold over it for .5 seconds.

  • @Camcolito

    @Camcolito

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@janehrahan5116 It's not 17 unless you upgrade it, it's 13, and you probably won't be upgrading it on high ascension. That's 2 more damage than the uncommon, Backstab, which is innate (so you have it when you need front-loaded damage, at the start of the fight), costs 0 instead of 1 energy, and also exhausts. Now of course backstab is single-target, but think about some hard fights which are multi-target - Sentries, Gremlin leader, Reptomancer, birds (though not that hard), Slimeboss). 13 damage to all doesn't really do much because they either resummon or have enough hp that they can't be burst down. What you need is either some way to bypass AOE (corpse explosion, massive burst / defense) or AOE that doesn't exhaust. I'd often rather have an upgraded dagger spray in my deck than an upgraded die die die, and an upgraded backstab over either. It's not a terrible card, just not that good, and it's a rare. Not an expert on Ironclad but I've heard some people like Bludgeon in the right deck. Silent has her share of crap rares - Storm of steel, rubbish / Tools of the trade, rubbish / Doppleganger, rubbish (Die Die Die are better than these)

    Plamen Bogdanov just guessing here, I’m no expert and I can’t get in the mind of Jorbs: he is not talking about the best play, he is talking about priorities, you first instinct should not be if you can deal lethal, but if you can block all damage, and if you do, can you still block or deal lethal damage next turn? Then you can ask yourself if you can already do lethal damage. The second approach is better in general during the game where there are multiple enemies and takes more into consideration.

    Deadly Poison isn't scaling damage. It deals a flat 15 damage over 5 turns, unless combined with another poison card. Scaling damage is something like Noxious Fumes or Thousand Cuts that, once played, will deal damage continuously for the rest of the fight.

    Just say, critical thinking. It's ok. Schools try to teach children "what" to think, they should teach "how" to think critically. Thinking for themselves.
