had a season ticket there for 20 years until 2006. never been to the bowl. some of my best ever memories were on the clockend in the early 80's with proper people. My first game there was with my dad (rip) in 1970. EIE

The day they took the terracing away and replaced it with seating killed it for me been about 4 times since and once at the Emirates being told by a spotty pimpled face steward that I can't take a beer back to my seat was enough for me.

QPR fan here , loved going to Highbury , we had loads of memories from the Clock End . Great away ground , especially in the 80s when West and North London were at each other ! We were there when Jenson scored in the 90s !! Ive been to the Emerites but it isnt the same , i dont want Rangers to leave Loftus Rd and leave our heart and soul behind , rather stay a small club .

i was thirteen when I first went to Highbury :) a school mate asked me to go with him and watch The Arsenal play Chelsea. I didn't know about London derby's or potential for agro especially in 78-79 season when Chelsea were relegated. We went and stood behind the goal post level with the stadium pillars in the North bank. I could hardly see the pitch due to the massive crowd, but the loudness of the chants and knees up mother browns, and the rib crushing pressure of being squashed up against those steal leaners every time there was a crowd surge terrified me until I learnt to lift myself over the steal bar so my ribs were above it and just go with the crowd. I was so naïve I didn't no about away fans in the North bank until the fights broke out. Their were fights in the East and West stands as well as the Clock end of course. I walked out of the North bank exhausted, deaf, and in shock, only to be knocked to the ground by supporters chasing other supports down avnell road with the police following on horse back with batons like baseball bats cleaning up anybody that got in there way. I couldn't wait to go back for the next home match. That day changed my life, and Highbury and the home fans taught me life lessons and importance of loyalty. Loved the terraced standing only North Bank. Thanks for the memory's, great video, sorry about the ramble. COYG

EIE - Originates from “Here they are” , A recognised warning to announce presents of opposing hooligans nearby (We are going to get attacked or get ready to attack ), shouted by the Arsenal hooligans then known as Clockenders. One day a lad is eating a sausage roll when sees an attack from opposing hooligans, as he spits out “here they are” it sounds like EIE, this was adopted then and replaced “Here they are” at roughly the same time Arsenals crew become known as the Gooners.

a "PROPER" football stadium..i was 1st taken there by me dad in 1966( i was 5) i sat with him in the east upper till i was old enough( about 10) to be taken onto the north bank with me big sister and her boyfriend we stood right behind the goal...i took a few of me mates and we graduated to the clockend aged about 17,happy days stayed there till me 30's went back upstairs to the east upper blockB near the back.dont get me wrong the emirates is a decent stadium but it will never replace Highbury.

Loved standing on the Clock End in the early eighties. At the time we were better off the pitch than on, if you know what I mean. One of my best memories was when we had a match towards the end of the 1981/82 season. My Sunday league team, Marquess Estate, had a cup final the next day. Our manager had got a job lot of track suit tops for us to wear. We collected them before going to Highbury to watch the match. We all decided to put them on. It must have been a bizarre sight seeing a team of early 20s, very English looking lads all wearing the tracksuit tops of the Iraqi national team. You don't get that at the Emirates.

Arsenal fan all of my life, first went in 1965. Moved out of London and could not get tickets for Highbury once we went all seater - did in 2001 but it cost me £75.00 for a ticket against Leeds (which we lost). Am now a Red Member and get to the Emirates three or four times a season, gutted my Grandkids will never get to see Highbury (made sure my kids) but so glad we did move as at least can get to see matches nowadays. Once we win something Ashburton Grove will really feel like home

Amazing starts about 7 to 8 yrs old, if your local like holloway Rd every Saturday without fail then after the longest walk home but when you went in no matter what was going on you were also home but had 40,000 like you for couple of hours, I didn't do the Saturday morning pictures so my dad had to send me some where Also "Peanuts

Brings a lump in my throat and I'm a Liverpool fan.Visited Highbury lots through the 80's.Miss these old stadiums so much and the dash that went with them. The times we all had. I say again and again. These new stadiums and new builds.Just lack the character and individuality that we used to experience.Sit in Anfield,Emirates,Etihad,OT or st James and there is nothing. Its like the cinema.Yes people sing but there is nothing going on bar the footie.Sounds strange but through 70's and 80's.There was tonnes to watch, other than the footie..I swear I spent more time watching the crowd than I did watching the game. The footie is done for me.Its a different experience totally.I made the most of my time.Im sure you old clockenders did the same.✊✊🏿

I wish i was a bit older scouse. I started going highbury in 87 aged 13 and the atmosphere was something else. Funnily enough i think one of the best was against Liverpool at home in a night game. There was 55,000 packed into Highbury that night, and yeah you're right, half the time you were looking at events off the pitch. This is the only time i wish i was born 10 years earlier!! I went to the "Bowl" ( the Emirates) once and it depressed fuck out of me.
