High Voltage Insulator Hunting ft. FutureLineman05

Check this insulator channel oot, FutureLineman05: / @futurelineman0524
Here's yet another insulator hunting video. As you can see, most of these insulators were acquired from wrecked out 12.4kV distribution and 69kV sub-transmission poles. We asked permission from the foreman to grab some, and he said yes. Even emptied some insulators out the bucket truck for us. Remember that it doesn't hurt to ask permission. Hunt insulators wisely. Don't touch downed power lines ever. Talk to the foreman on a line crew about it, and you'll be safe.

This video remenbers me when i was 12 years old and i took down a pole, i was taking off some glass insulators, the pole was of wood and the wood was very broke, then the pole fell and fell in other pole making like a domino effect, but none of the insulators broke

Dude. Advice. Transfer to DTE out of Southeast Michigan. A lineman told me a story about how in Nebraska he pulled a 1912 insulator and was very proud and he then transferred to DTE and that was everyday for him in the city. So much so that he used to collect in the beginning and stopped because it was no longer suprising to see crazier old stuff. Lots of early American power hardware here. Not sure where you are at but where it's cold, there is porcelain gold. So try contracting for DTE.

Nice insulators. And very nice backyard setup. Last week i got 10 high voltage insulators. And saturday i got a substation insulator ( and a very old vacuum pump). Proper tools are used to losen insulators from poles.

@@VariacManiac yes. a wrench, channel locks and a wire cutter will be nice to have when you find a big stack of poles. maybe you should get a pothead for your backyard setup.
