    Really great video BONT, thanks for this! I recently graduated as a design student and have been studying design even more but never thought about studying business skills as well! I'm hoping to become a freelance designer soon so this advice really helps!

    I find the title of your video misleading. Would’ve loved to hear specific info on those actual skills instead of being told over and over again how important they are and how you teach them on your course. Nothing wrong with promo but I think there really has to be more value in these kinds of videos, especially when it’s stated in the title.

    I'm a new freelance WP designer, but I've been in corporate sales for over 30 years, which is my reason for getting into web design. I've heard clients state, my web designer is great and creates great designs, but is so hard to reach, or does not really have great communication skills, or has no real business acumen. I'm hoping to fill that space with my great business skills and improving as I go web design. Thanks for this video, I can't wait to listen to more of your videos.

    That's awesome, you probably have a lot to bring to the table. Good design IMHO moves the needle on the business, so the more you understand the impact you have on the businesses you work with, the more value you can provide, and thus the more you can charge. Welcome to the BONT community :)

    To answer your intro assumptions: No. You were not recommended to me via search - and I am not a freelancer. I found this video from my home page. I am beginning to gain interest in UI/UX design, and have been recently watching KZread videos based on this; mainly because I have been planning to create a mobile social app. Additionally, before clicking your video, I thought to myself, "Freelancing my current skillset sounds interesting. It may help me earn funds to cover some of the app development costs. I wonder piece of knowledge I can gain by watching this 'high-value skill - must have' video." So there you go, hope that helps. Edit: After continuing to watch, I ending skipping through the video until I reached the "pulley system" analogy (as it was naturally more captivating to see something rather than just a talking head reading a transcript). Then I was met with your ending, prompting me to check-out your course link. Then I went back to my homepage. I hope this helps too.

    Hey, what's your name? From your description, it evident this video is not for you, and that’s why you went back to your home screen. I'm totally ok with that, because I know who I'm talking to. Yet another example of a high value business skill to learn.

    Great video as always. I do wonder (as someone who's trying to be a web designer), what kind of client can we serve if we're only offer web design and not development. Is studio/agency the only option? because I think it's unlikely to a small business to be prepared to find developers. Are we responsible to find the developers for them?

  • @hellobont

    @hellobont

    You are not responsible, but it's a great addition to your services to partner up with developers who match your skills. And it's more likely that you will sell if you help your clients solve that problem too. I talk more about this in the video "Should freelance Web Designers learn to code?".
