This is why sports are MUCH MORE than just a game.

@@benobro5831that’s what he means lol, the impact of what he’s doing w those kids life is more important than a ring ever will be
Talk about maturity...
Coach just shook his head b/c he couldn’t believe how great that was. He was just blown away at such an amazing young man. That was one of the most mature speeches from a high school athlete that I have EVER seen.
So much respect for that coach, must be amazing to know that he struck such an impact on that young man's life. Phenomenal.

This is literally why I want to become a coach…every coach I’ve ever had had my absolute respect cause they gave me love and care growing up they blessed me and I love being able to bless kids
That's phenomenal
Of course it's nice to win, but wins mean nothing if you can't have a positive impact on the players' lives. Mad respect to the coach Smith and Terrell.

RyanJS08 shit winning gets you recognized for college and nba scouts. It’s important too, because a player would be able to better provide for there families

Venus Spacey I understand your point, but for those guys that are on winning teams that don't get noticed, then what?

RyanJS08 I wasn’t disagreeing with your whole point. The positive impact part I agree. The winning means nothing part I disagree. Both are important.

Venus Spacey Of course winning is important, but it doesn't mean everything. And my whole comment was based on the context of the video. They lost a big game, but the positive impact this coach had on the life of this player far outweighed anything they may have accomplished in the Win column.

RyanJS08 right. The kid garbage anyway. He only had hustle highlights lol. Glad the coach was impactful to his life off the court, cause he likely just played his last meaningful basketball game.
Best speech EVER from a basketball player on ANY level
It’s a great feeling to know you’ve had a positive impact on someone.
This is proof that while sports are fueled by great competition, players are motivated by great coaches.
AWESOMENESS, WONDERFUL YOUNG MAN & COACH
Got me in tears just hearing it, and I'm not even his coach.. I don't even know who these guys are!

That speech hit different…you can feel the emotions in the room.
I love that one of the guys with a mic said “that’s awesome”. I can’t image how truly awesome it was to hear him say that so raw and emotional
Idk man I lost my coach and he was the greatest ever it is just sad. May he rest in peace
❤️❤️. Even through the losses their team probably worked their hardest and came up short
Wow what a well spoken young man..
at the end the coach shaking his head like somethin hit him like “I know I’ve coached these young men, but for this young man to word this appreciation so powerful and actually thankful for someone being in their lives”
This why I wanna coach
For everyone to know its Eufaula Alabama
Salute to Coach Smith! Best coach I ever had as well!
Love this. Best wishes to player and coach from the SF Bay Area.
Respect is built in us different down here in "LA" Lower Alabama,.. shoutout Eufaula high school
I love hearing professional sports players talk years later about a coach in high school that still has an impact on him. Wherever this kid ends up in life, he will remember this coach.
Girls got the nerve to say “how can you get that emotional over sports” sports ain’t a game, it’s a brotherhood, never had a closer friend than a teammate
Cried my eyes out. I had an ROTC Sgt Maj like this. Miss him everyday.
Man yall got me over here tearing up
Real shit💪🏾
Wow this broke me
For some of these young men, these coaches are their first real father figure
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 thats real 🐐🐐
This is how SPORTS changes lives.....
Correction ESPN...it's Eufaula, Alabama NOT Oklahoma.
You don’t get comments like that for nothing especially from high schoolers. Coach must’ve been a REAL one.
Those players is apart of his family and that well noted by that response
Maturity .. I love it

Today this kid was caught with marijuana at school. And the coach has been accused of having inappropriate relationships with female players in the late 90’s. What a role model. The kid messed up. He can recover if he is as mature as a lot of you believe him to be. Everyone makes mistakes, and he’s young. I wish him the best. But same sad story for a lot of kids around that way. And I know, I myself went to school there.
