This lady is such an amazing inspirational human being. There’s no one in the public eye I admire more than Ms. Marie Henein. I hope she knows and realizes how powerful her life story is to many, if not all, immigrants here in Canada. I love her unapologetic attitude. It’s so refreshing to hear her. Her explanations about the legal system are so educational. Ms. Henein, you are one super, classy, inimitable lady! God bless you.
I admire this woman very much. She is a true role model and unapologetic about who she is and how she expresses herself, as a woman and an attorney. During the first part of the interview, I wondered if she was a lesbian, and then she later mentioned she had a husband. Why do I bring up her sexuality? Because women who dress and act like her (somewhat masculine) are often judged for their gender expression, conditioned to believe certain things about what it means to be a woman, and told that men won't find their way of being attractive. Henein is proof that you should be whoever you wish to be, and someone will love you just the way you are.
Much respect and love for this lady!... We need her in our Canadian justice system especially now going forward!
Read her book and respect her even more since this interview
This is such an inspirational and useful interview. As a late-start paralegal student about to embark on her fourth semester in Toronto, I felt that this added a lot of value to perspective.
Marie Henein is a mesmerizing icon of female empowerment! I find her profoundly inspiring!!!
I’ve always been mesmerized by this lady. I only found out she went to one of my old high schools
As someone living in the US, my ears kind of perked up when she mentioned that in Canada, you don't have elected judges and elected prosecutors that run on how many convictions they've gotten. Is it true then, that people working in the legal system that she mentioned really don't have so much incentive to jail innocents in the pursuit of advancing their careers?

Absolutely, insofar as judges and prosecutors are elected, coupled to the premise that a tough on crime agenda is politically favorable, you arrive at the fairly straightforward result that even wrongful convictions are seen as wins.

With respect to the American Legal System, for many Canadians, the idea that prosecutors and judges who are legal officials, to be elected is almost horrifying. The idea that a judge has to pander to a certain electorate to keep their job, and the only way to do that is to put their own ambitions into their judgements, is absolutely frightening. Can you imagine a judge giving sentences that are more brutal and harsh, only for the reasons that they have to do it to keep their job, then objectivity goes flying out the window. Judges, and lawyers for that matter, have to be dispassionate. They have to be dedicated to their clients and to the word of the law, nothing more. Judges have to have zero influence outside the court, they should not be vulnerable to bribes of especially the sway of public opinion.
I like her. Very intelligent lady that stands for what she believes and very humble

It's wonderful to see this type of love a dedication to her chosen profession. She is master of her craft.
I don't think small talk is her thing :)
Yes what a terrific Canadian. I wonder if she ever thinks how her life would have turned out if her family had stayed in Egypt. She is Egypt's loss and Canada's win.
Would love to know her thoughts on the Depp Heard case. I watched a few of her interviews and I was incredibly impressed at her level of integrity and conviction of what justice is.
Marie Henein, Canadian legend.
A whole lot of Boss energy!! LOVE her.
Interesting interview. Good job!
What an amazing woman
Both of these women are very talented.
She mentioned she like legal documentaries.... in case anyone else is interested, I suggest "Murder On A Sunday Afternoon" and "Longshot." Both are about criminal defense attorneys who are Public Defenders, and the incredible work they each did on a case.

Good job Marie!!!
An impressive person. I'm always fascinated at how lawyers approach the law - very structured; and, their clients- very personal.

What a great job by the interviewer!!!
Marie reminds me of a young Janis Ian. Talented. Resilient. Beautiful!
She is pragmatic and cool as a cucumber, but more relaxed than earlier interviews. 'Would have liked to represent Martha Stewart', good one!
Because being a politician is against all her principles of being a lawyer
I absolutely love this woman.
Totally spoils it to have to see Ben Mulroney at the end.

Anne-Marie: to want to liked is narcissistic To not be concerned to be liked and to be focused on your job is professional
Don’t you get it - the toughness she shows is the tough life of an immigrant family - duhhhh
She’s says she was Goth in teens, and ya gotta make it seem like it’s an incredible reveal What did you expect? Disco? Rocker?
It’s not “how does it inform...” It’s “how does it influence...”

I never would have thought that but yeah.
You keep hammering her about being a shark or being cold. She she keeps giving you an intelligent answer, but you keep poking - it’s the quality of a good lawyer not to be emotional in front of media, public and court It’s public perception I’m sure she’s emotional with her family and good friends Get it ?!

Marie Henein or Ian McColloch?
Miss E
My lack of knowledge of the judicial system made me very biased against criminal layers....thought it was all about the pecuniary $$$$$$$$$
Great interview. Henein is never at ease. A deer in the headlights isn't her way.
I would vote for her
She is very smart and professional and she is very stylish .
I sure wish she would have asked Ms. Henein what she thinks about C-51!
Super smart and drop dead gorgeous. A sapiosexual's dream 😍💕
The hair....!
Well, unfortunately Lawyers are "made" not by how good they are ..but which case they happen upon and point in time......example ..the Omar Khadr case and multiple lawyers who worked his case and in the end it was a John Norris..who strangely earned a judgeship out of it...wonder how that works in the world of politics...
Marie seems more concerned about liking herself than being liked by others.

What’s Anne-Marie ‘s last name What are you hiding?
She’s pretty
You really do not get to know these "famous" people better during a breakfast-meeting, do you?
Too many trivia and insignificant life style questions and in the process the interview lost the ability to communicate to the the viewer the in depth definition, determination and drive of a lifetime legal career by Marie Henein.
Witch advocate. Never lost a case.
Hmm. A little relaxed, but that is alright. But, tolerance of the expression of diversity of ideas being the life blood of democracy is probably still in her mind.
interesting person. interview style is irritating. not the right person or setting to try to take a deep dive into these topics. will look for marie henein on a podcast with another lawyer for the inside scoop. otherwise it's just grasping at straws, and cringe worthy.
i like how she prevents high profile sex offenders from going to prison. great person.

Everyone has a right to access to justice including representation. Sometimes that means as a legal representative, you have to defend those you don't particularly like. That is just a fact of life in a democratic society.
