High pheasants - 90 yard screamer from Crowman

Спорт

As a thank you for salvaging their cover crop Andy "Crowman" Crow has been invited to join a syndicate driven pheasant shoot day in Kent. Many of the birds are beyond the range of any gun, but Andy bags a screamer and confesses it's one of the best birds of his life.

Game is wild, natural and free range, and it is one of the healthiest meats available today. It is low in cholesterol and high in protein. Results from research commissioned by the Game-to-Eat campaign (Leatherhead Food International Research 2006) suggest that there are real health benefits to eating game. Both pheasant and partridge contain high levels of iron, protein, vitamin B(6) and selenium, which helps to protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.
In addition to the nutritional benefits of game, game shooting is worth £2 billion annually to the rural economy and supports 74,000 jobs. There are 480,000 (UK government figures) active game shooters in the UK who enjoy bird shooting under the principles of the Code of Good Shooting Practice.
More than 2 million hectares are actively managed for shooting in the UK creating proven (PACEC, 2014) conservation benefits and preserving important habitats for a diverse range of flora and fauna, in particular farmland birds. UK shooting providers spend £5.4 million on cover crop seeds every year and maintain over 25,000ha of wild-bird cover.

    Im using 2 3/4 chambered 12gauge Remington 870 Wingmaster. It has a 4 shot tube and is one of the older kinds with long barrel and steel trigger guard. I do want to test out some patterns with it but theres only 1 kind of box of ammo left at my local hardware store. 7 1/2 target loads , i have a box of 6 shot winchester super x lead ammo.

    Great shooting, beautiful scenery! What I still wonder is why so many people still these days go out on a driven day with no ear protection, no eye protection and no hat or cap? Well, up to them of course...

    90 yards? A lucky pellet brought that down. It, in most instances, would have flown on, with the shooter unaware that he even hit it. Almost criminal to take birds on at that range.

    Surely its not now sporting to shoot at out of range birds.Id very much like to see the pattern thrown by that gun at 50yds beyond whitch wounding increases,as proven by my friend Mr Thomas,I wonder what would be his comments.

    Bit of a con, when Andy is talking with the gun broken you can see he is using cartridges with the Gordon recoil system and not Hull's high pheasant extremes.

    They looked like hull high pheasant extreme to me I shoot them with my (Only a miroku ) there a damn good shell, the black gold with the Gordon system has a black ring there is a possibility they were game bore dark storm they look identical to hull's.never the less it was damn good shooting 5 shot? Them long birds were stoned 3's or 4's crow man seemed pretty modest to me I wish I was as consistent as him .

    Only thin i hate is the class division bullshit ...i've beated and shot on a lords farm yet I know a better shooter on a auto that would be "frowned" upon .. what does the gun matter if what you're shooting at dies?

  • @peterfranklin1759

    @peterfranklin1759

    Nothing to do with class. The reason they don't like semi autos is that everyone around you can't tell if you are loaded or not. If you are shooting pigeons, for example by yourself or with someone beside you in a hide, that doesn't matter. When there's people all around you, you want to be able to show you are safe. That's true on a big estate or a 100 acre little farm shoot.
