Have you ever wondered how to create amazing high-key, high contrast black and white wildlife photos? While they look like they'd be difficult, they are actually WAY easer than you think!
In this video, I'll show how to shoot and how to post process to create your own stunning high key B&W wildlife photos. We'll start with what to look for in the field - things like backgrounds, light, exposure, are all covered.
Then, it's time to post-process or high-key B&W image and I'll show you every step you need to take and which techniques seem to produce the best results.

Thanks for this Steve, although I’m now pained thinking about all of the images I’ve deleted over the years which would have been good candidates for this. I still find the good old NIK Silver Efex dynamite for B&W.

Another good way to select the sky is to use the 'Color Range' masking tool. You just take a sample of one part of the sky and it selects everything the same colour. An easy way of blowing out a coloured sky if you want to achieve this same hi-key look.

The Lightroom library one didn't go over well is the issue. People who have it seem to love it, but my post-processing stuff just doesn't get a lot of attention. The problem is that those videos take a LONG time to do - that was over six months I think for very little return. However, I think I do have a project that may work better. Rather than a complete develop module course, I think I'm going to do a shorter video series that shows my post-processing technique using Lightroom and Photoshop - I think that's what people probably want anyway. It won't take as long and should sell better.
