Country: Japan | Born: 9 August 1997 (24 years)
Hifume Abe became World Champion in 2018 in Baku and 2017 in Budapest. He took bronze in Tokyo in 2019. Abe became well known since he won the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing in 2014. He fought the World Junior Championships final in 2014. Won silver at the World Cadet Championships in Miami. He won the Grand Slam in Tyumen and Grand Slam in Tokyo in 2016 as youngest winner. In 2017 he won the Grand Slams in Paris, Tokyo, Ekaterinburg and Düsseldorf. World Mixed team gold in Tokyo in 2019. He bagged the Grand Slam gold in Antalya in 2021.

Country: Japan | Born: 11 August 1993 (28 years)
Japanese judoka Joshiro Maruyama is the current double World Champion of 2021 and 2019. Maruyama defeated Abe a few times won silver at the Grand Slam in Tokyo in 2017 and Paris Grand Slam 2018. He captured gold at the Grand Slam in Osaka in 2018 against Abe. Maruyama won the World Masters in 2018 in Guangzhou and gold at the Grand Slam in Düsseldorf in 2019. World Mixed team gold in Tokyo in 2019.

    Hifuni basically fake thrown until shido is given to the opponent, unfair fight imo, but who am I to judge? Shido is the meta.

    @@bharwi_o7 excessively will be considered, it will be judge calls, quite a nasty system for player who are good with the rules. Hifumi have done this to maruyama multiple times. In my opinion, hifumi’s playstyle will be more suitable for getting medals, in the end it’s about winning the game, hifumi understand he can’t throw maruyama, so he had to play the rules.
