    In the US Cyrus is not a well known as other brands across the pond. About 4 months ago, I got a real nice deal on the Dac-6. Let me say this.. The sound is awesome, its rated 40Watts is so conservative. This Amp-DAC really shines on many speakers, but playing it on my Dynaudi's Special 40is almost awe-inspiring . You have a fan and I tend to grace my home with more of you products. Very impressed... TY

    I really love these kind of videos, getting to know the OEMs behind the products we see out in the market. There something very special about hearing the intentions behind a design of the product, makes you look at it differently, with better appreciation that you originally did. Terry I just love quality of your work, the super high level of video and audio, keep it up man, you can only go higher.

    Great interview, my first ever real hifi back in 89 was cyrus 2 amplifier with pxr power supply and mission 752F speakers, plus dad 5 cd player and dac, also had the mission 753F speakers as well with that, system, I was serving in the RAF in Cyprus at the time, had a great mission cyrus dealer in the capital Nicosia, I also introduced a few of my colleagues to real hifi and they also purchased mission cyrus systems.

    Cyrus gear sounds great and very detailed but the CD players have major loading issues and I had a PSU which clapped out and destroyed the Cyrus 3 amp. I would love to buy a new CDT but I’m too scarred over reliability.

    I’ve had a Cyrus 3 since new and it’s never once had a problem and I still use it fairly regularly , I even bought a Cyrus 8 amp for my main system , several years ago and similarly this has given me perfect service . I’ve not used the PSU with them yet but was planning to buy a power amp instead for the 8 so maybe I’ll find out then how they all work when put together . But perhaps it’s been just bad luck as I’ve heard very few people complain about the later Cyrus products . The spearlier Cyrus One and Two could be unreliable sometimes and the three was packed full of protections which have been carried on ever since I think . So if they do go wrong they usually won’t damage other equipment .my main criticism of Cyrus is it does get 8ncredibly complicated trying to work out exactly what a product actually does , there are so many with an alphabet soup of letters .the fact they all look very much the same does t help even if it’s a cool , no frills all business amp etc .i do use a Rega Apollo though so can’t comment on the CD transport but it does seem a problem waiting to happen that would need sending back to repair before getting a cd out .The Apollo, it just lifts up , simple …!

    I was really surprised with their production line in the factory! Very progressive and tech. advanced. Their products looks as if they are done in someones basement. I would never buy new Cyrus product. Because of the looks. All other British brands looks more contemporary. Maybe some look more classical like Audio Note or design-less like Exposure. Cyrus look is not either one of those. For me of course. Once I had a very old Cyrus amp with a power supply for a quick test. It beated my Supernate 2 on vocals clarity .I couldn’t believe it 😅 But it happened.

    If you add the external PS, then does the internal PS become redundant? Assuming so - they should make a version of the product that does not contain an internal PS in the first place - saving money but knowing it can only ever be used with the external PS.

  • @jasonsaxon5620

    @jasonsaxon5620

    When a PSU-XR is connected to a host product the power supply inside the product does not become redundant. Depending on the product the PSU-XR is capable of taking over up to 3 sections of the circuit in side the host leaving the internal power supply to do the rest, house keeping, screen etc

  • @oliverking9183

    @oliverking9183

    Жыл бұрын

    No, the internal power supply does not become redundant. It works along side it. For example in the i9 integrated amplifier the PSU takes over the preamp stage and works with the internal supply to provide a better supply to the power amp stage.

    Why don’t they just put it in the main product and charge a bit more , would save on making more boxes . For the sake of boxes . Maybe it wouldn’t all fit in one box , but would save a lot on materials. Especially in todays climate.

    i really don't understand why the can't make products with good power supplies in the first place.. this should not be necessary!

  • @PursuitPerfectSystem

    @PursuitPerfectSystem

    I think its likely the retail cost of the unit, if they build super high end version the price will go up, with a separate power supply option it means some can upgrade but others dont have to. I dare say there are technical benefits to the external power source too.

  • @oliverking9183

    @oliverking9183

    It allows you to improve your system for significantly less outlay than selling your existing products and starting again from scratch at a higher price point. All Cyrus products have high-quality, single-wound toroidal transformers. However, adding an additional off-board power supply to power sensitive electronics like the pre-amp stage in an integrated amplifier, brings significant sonic benefits.

  • @hoobsgroove

    It doesn't sound unique it sounds like a class h power supply what class do they call it?

  • @cyrusaudio

    @cyrusaudio

    Жыл бұрын

    Class H is an amplifier topology where the power rails are modulated ahead of the audio signal, the PSU-XR synthesises rails as requested by the host product which is quite different.

  • @the_famous_reply_guy

    Most manufacturers of electronics will eventually move towards fully monitored power supplies for higher efficiency, possibly better sound quality and longer life span. Its not a bad thing, Technics have implemented similar power suppliers but haven't been accepted by the audio public.

  • @peterlarkin762

    @peterlarkin762

    The 'synthesis' is , as far as i can make out, a relay array connecting and disconnecting different secondary coils outputs. So, the amp tells the microprocessor what rail it needs and the relays are set... This is great for compatability, but how on earth do they claim this sounds better. Its just another linear supply, no regulation going on apart from the low voltage outputs.

  • @PursuitPerfectSystem

    @PursuitPerfectSystem

    Жыл бұрын

    It’s called a focus pull and it’s used all the time to add movement to a shot that’s has no movement in it. You can’t please everyone with your creative decisions when you make a video but your the only person who has complained about it in over 2100000+ video views so it’s worth taking that into account. In fact in Hollywood its someones job just to pull focus on the camera lenses. Maybe instead appreciate the extreme high video quality that’s being presented here that you can watch for free

    The bulk of the video is not shot like that, its just the odd product shot as hifi is a very stationary thing so its very boring to video and watch because it does not move at all, so pulling focus on it creates some movement and some visual intrigue so every shot is different even though its just a shot of a black box

    As always, nice video, but I would say power supply makes no difference whatsoever and is merely a money making thing. And it's a waste of resources. In the background, there is pictures of three massively talented individuals and only a short while ago I was listening to Bob Marley, live at the Rainbow. Something from the 70s, remastered.The track was Exodus. I have a very high end system all connected via a cheap as chips Wilko power strip that coat me £4 about 6 years ago. . The sound is nothing short of staggering. No hiss, dead quiet background and extremely musical and alive .....all with a plastic cheap power strip. Those things do nothing, and some reviewer's on YT have measured what they do. Please don't waste hard earned money on them. Buy the best components you can afford. Sure, you would have heard this before, but will a gadget really do anything to electricity that has travelled on the grid for long distance ? How is that electricity changed? What is the gadget really doing?

    Power supplies and power conditioning is totally different, The power supply talked about here drives the electronics. Power conditioning is not about hiss, that is not what you hear as a difference either, vist a show where they do A/B test and you hear what they do

    Ask anyone who owns PSXR power supplies and they will tell you they make a big difference to sound quality. They elevate existing Cyrus components to happy new heights. In my book that's not a waste of money Comparing them to power strips is quite comical.

    Very crafty Mr. Pursuit of Perfection…. What I heard in the end of the interview as far as a 40th anniversary release goes is, a “turntable,” although a CD player is likely as well. And I like the idea of Cyrus going with Blu Os seeing how I have NAD products and a Blue-sound Node already. Well done.🥸

    To me Cyrus was the more popular cousin of Creek, iconic styling in a compact foot print, sonically clean, mature and rock solid. I'm glad they have maintained the core ethos in a time and age of Amazon tat.
