tbh I don't think Lizzy stood up for the UK and it's citizens at all. How low did the country have to be brought before they would speak out in it's defence? I know the Royals are supposed to keep out of politics et al, but it seems to be OK for Charles and William as long as they support the progressive, woke stance. The butterfly in my opinion is absolutely a nod to MKUltra and specifically Project Monarch

It is at best a glorified postage stamp. It neither represents the monarchy or the man. The inclusion of the butterfly only highlights the mediocrity of the subject. If the King is so ashamed of his past that he has to hide his medals, perhaps its time to abdicate.

His face is done very well. That part I like, but it's anxiety inducing. I totally agree with you. It feels ominous. I think it's one of those pieces of art that will be looked back on in history as 'tempting fate' when something bad befalls him. Maybe it's a nod to how he feels about having cancer? It's not good.

As soon as he announced he would be 'defender of the FAITHS' I considered him lost. He has NEVER used Jesus' name in reverence except in the repetitive prayers of the awful Cof E. He has no relationship with Jesus.

Charles has quite an interest in painting, so must have endorsed the commission. Yeo is a decent enough artist. He's quite well known (his Dad is the former Tory politician, Tim Yeo..). I don't think he's quite got the likeness perfect. All the symbolism and stylish stuff generally just passes me by, but in this case, and our troubled times, it is all a bit disturbing.

Well we all saw Mr Angry at the coronation. Apparently the Queen Consort has said it has got him spot on. Personally I think this picture is hideous.

Like other comments on here, I thought of MK Ultra first. Is emerging from hell or sinking back into it? If KC3 had wanted an abstract portrait, there are better ways of doing it than crimson and cadmium red.

it's a Monarch, they have a spring time through autumn migration route through Britain. It's relevance is what side of his shoulders it is positioned in, not the butterfly itself. it's on his right, our left, like on the coins; he is facing to the right, our left. Queen Elizabeth II was facing the opposite direction

Saw this on the midday news here in Australia. We usually see him fumbling for something in his left hand pocket.

Given the current climate ( sorry for the pun, given the flames metaphor) this painting is unfortunate. It does appear as if our resident Gerry is being engulfed in some sort of molten miasma. It’s quite startling - I think that’s evident. To be honest, and I’m an artist myself, I’m not sure whether I like it or not. But I do understand your concerns Paz.

The butterfly is a Monarch butterfly. Think that's the symbolism.
