Good work on the video! I had no idea that MOW stuff had been put in the hole right before we got there. Easton may be a tiny town but it was exciting enough when we were there! What a great run, worth every penny.

I agree. They do a excellent job of keeping it clean and so shiney.
4449 was designed and built as an oil burner. Most west coast railroads either built oil burners or converted their engines to burn oil. Oil was more available, easy to transport, store and much less maintance intensive to burn.

I wish they would use cars in the same pain scheme as the 4449. That and I wish I could see the train in person.
@cool45010 She got a new whistle in late 2010. I forget what type, but it is an original GS-4 whistle.
Glad you liked it! Dan
I gotta ask. How do they wax and wash that train? That looks like a basecoat clearcoat paint. Or is that some industrial paint or laquer? Got a highgloss 2 it. I love the colors! im glad they restored it all original. What kind of paint they use when this train was built?
4449 was BUILT as an oil burner as were pretty much all steamers for use on the west coast. We have no coal reserves out here so oil was used once wood fell out of favor.
What Kind Of Camera? Great Shots Wish I Had Something Like This When She Went To Trainfest.
The 4449 was not converted to burn oil, that is how it was originally built.

Uh yeah, the date is IN THE TITLE of the VIDEO.
They take real good care of it, all I can say.
No, they use oil...........
Write Them And Ask Why? I Have No Idea. Dan
I think it's a slap in the face now that they've converted it to oil, they have "safe" coal now, steamtown uses it, why cant they?

jdarby0788 They didn’t convert 4449 to oil, it’s always been that way since it was built in 1941
