As a young boy I can remember going on holiday from Wolverhampton low level .... I was always fascinated at the trains on the higher level station being up above me ..... Wolverhampton always used to be rough around the edges but that's what gave it it's warmth and great people.

In 1960 I started my first job as a draughtsman in Wolverhampton. I lived in Wellington and for the next 6 years I travelled back and forth along the line to low level station. I remember climbing up dozens of steps to get up to the high level and then out into the town to pick up a trolley bus to lower Villiers street where the drawing office was at Niphon Works building, a very historic building which is still standing today. You can imagine how interesting I found your video. It brought back so many memories. I remember dashing down the steps from high level to low level taking them two or three at a time so as not to miss my train to Wellington. I suppose those steps have been demolished now. It was great to see that they've kept the canopy of the station. I'm an old chap now but before I pop my clogs I think I'd like to travel up to Wolverhampton from Bath were I now live and take a walk under the low level canopy and remember those far off days when I could dash down those steps to low level where if I had time before my steam train departed I'd get a sandwich and a cup of tea from the tea room on the platform. Memories!!

I’m so glad this came into my recommendations. I’ve walked the line from Wellington Rd to Lower Walsall Street and I was always curious as to where the other end of the portals were that run under Willenhall Road. Google maps wasn’t much help. And I never would’ve noticed the old track on Sun Street, despite passing there for many years whilst always on the look out for evidence of the old railway line.

Good to see they have kept a lot of the old station .I remember it being very derelict as i traveled on the top level from Shrewsbury to Birmingham . Lovely old blue brick station. Not like modern monstrosities.👍

Not sure how I feel about your video, to know there is still something left ,nice. To see it gone to rack and ruin breaks my heart. As a boy I was taken to Birmingham, Wellington and Shrewsbury regularly from the Low Level ,God Wonderful Railway, but Go When Ready for the airshow at Cosford The Pedestrian subway beneath the L.M.S. High Level was the cave leading to joy and wonder and the world beyond the horizon. You must forgive my ramblings.

Liked and subscribed. I grew up in the 50s in Hall Park Street Bilston and Priestfield Station was at the top of the road. Spent hours on end watching the steam trains, and sometimes ventured as far as Bilston Road to watch them. I remember walking down a tunnel with my Mom and Dad from High Level to Low Level to catch a train to Somerset for holidays. Sad day when all of this disappeared.

Thanks for this video - at the end you are right that the line did continue on to join the Grand Junction line in Fowlers Park however the principal route turned off just before that past Dunstall Park station, Stafford road shed and came out at the top of Oxley viaduct. The line was remodelled post closure of the Low Level station to swing round towards Fowlers Park to facilitate coal trains running to and from Ironbridge as previously trains needed to reverse. Previously it turned into the Low Level station - the cord, as its known, is new. If you take a train to Stafford and look out to your left towards Oxley viaduct you'll just about see where Dunstall Park station used to be

Hi mate not being critical but try and lift your camera a bit as it’s hard to get your bearings at times and maybe zoom out a little but apart from that a really interesting video as I have always wondered if these tunnels still existed. Maybe in dry weather all that water will subside and maybe it would then be possible to get into those tunnels
