I know about Tommy the Clown from the film "Rize" that I saw in Brookline, MA. Kendrick is wearing white for a reason. When he's smiling and waving at the end he's waving to Drake who (on the same day) was at the "White Party" in Long Island with a bunch of celebrities and wealthy people. That was a genius-level move.

I was born in 1982. Currently 42. I saw Tommy The Clown on The Pop Out and scared my wife as I yelled out: "HE'S STILL AROUND!" Because Tommy The Clown came to my middle school to put on a show with his group. You know you're legendary when being called The Clown is a sign of respect.

I’m from Louisiana when I was young we had internet and computers and laptops because my dad worked in tech and dancing was a big part of my black community in a small town in the south and we use to watch the videos this was before people got paid for KZread and the KZread rest lol.

The most diabolical analysis I've heard about the owl was the first shot we see the owl is from the owls perspective. staring down kendrick, clearly out matched. Then the 2nd shot is from kendrick's POV and he's caged, but doesnt even realize that he's stuck, unable to move around and fly. All a caged bird can do is sing.

@@jonenih White Party by Michael Rubin - basically rich white guy parading his famous "friends" - happens every 4th of July and Drake always been invited. Wouldn't be hard to guess he'd be there. There's an extra layer to that: the invitation for the Party is an individualized framed painting. Like the one Kdot has facing backwards in the cell shots.

I wish this layered aspect that I love so much was true. But boy you reaching. Is there proof prior to the white party that drake was going to attend? The theory I have of the picture on the floor and not on the wall is to Drake's statement of "Y'all have my pictures on the wall when you cook up..." I could be wrong. But I could be right. Point is they are all theories. And coincidences bring about theories most times.

Thirding this recommendation! Also [Deleted] 's Not like us video gets into history in a way that I was NOT expecting. Highly recommend bur also ooof, heavy. Literally titled, The Dark Creepy Eerie Messages in Not Like Us. They are at times doing that thing where they are talking while video of them playing a random game is shown, but I PROMISE it's worth it. It was through them that I saw the SECOND video of Drake saying the n-word with the hard er. He's done it TWICE!! That Kendrick line wasn't surface level, Drake literally speaks it wrong. In songs and more recently he gets it right, but when speaking it, using it in conversation, on two different occasions -ER.

I'm was born in the Caribbean and partially grew up in western Europe (still live there). English is my third language and I knew who Tommy the Clown was back in 2005. I'm not saying you should've known, I'm just surprised how much of a isolated world on its own New York apparently is.

The video LIVED UP TO THE HYPE! 🔥💯

One other point missed was that the cargo containers were white and the dancers were wearing black. Symbolizing the exportation of culture and/or trafficking.

Also, the door knock at the beginning of the video is tied to the walk off dance at the end of the third verse in the video. Here is the explanation. 1) the knock mimics the line “Shave and a haircut. Two bits” from the 1899 Charles Hale song “At A Darktown Cakewalk”. 2) Darktown was the name of a black neighborhood in Atlanta in the 1800s. 3) Cakewalk is a dance rooted in slavery. During slavery, slave masters would force their slaves to engage in dance contests to entertain them and their white guests. The prize was a cake. One of the dances was one in which the slaves were mocking how their masters walked. This became known as the cakewalk. 3) the dance that Kendrick and the T Squad Dancers were doing at the end of the third verse (about drake taking all those elements from Atlanta rappers) was a version of the cakewalk.

But also in my opinion, on drakes actions after this diss track, and for drake to not retaliate at all just proves the point that everything Kendrick said was true and drakes trying to sweep it under the carpet

Someone who has NEVER done an imaginary Stomp The Yard style krump battle, by themselves? Just flailing in their bedroom but in your head you are HITTING IT. There are folks who never pulled something trying to imitate krumping?! Is it more of a West coast thing? I really assumed the krump wave was national, but now I'm wondering if part of why I know about it is because I'm a West coaster? I'm a bit pissed, that we all HAVE to be missing things. There are probablt things so nuanced and small, that Kendrick and folks involved in the video shoot are the only ones who know it! And unless someone says it, we will never know. NEVER. I'm too nosy, I need the directors notes for the video.

If it is a remix of Not Like Us, I think it will include Metro, Future, J Cole and others. Imagine rappers from Memphis, even OG like Rakim. This is a movement
