Anyone thought about tapping a hole in the side and adding a zerk fitting?

Great info and just what i needed. My example has five years on it and gets warm in use. i thought it was going out and i've been looking to put a greaseable head on it. Thanks for saving me money

Thanks I was surprised to not see a grease plug on the side like every other trimmer, Stihl is slipping.

Thanks for the tip. Here’s another tip, remove the guard and put it way, second tip, but an Echo Speed Feed 400 head on and you’re golden. 👍

I personally don't really like to remove guards. It burns them up over time. 1 extra inch of string than recommended is equivalent to about 20 extra degrees on the engine. On the 4 mix engines it causes the cam lobe to melt. And on the 2 strokes ive seen it just slowly kill them over time. Wouldn't believe how much money it'll cost over a cheap plastic guard.

Does this get greese into the gearbox ring and pinion gear? Or does it just grease the drive shaft, gear box square connecting point hole? Does that hole give you access to the gear box?

I don't think it does. I looked at mine and it seems that it is sealed and the grease cannot get into the gear head properly. I dn what to do. Maybe drilling a hole in the gear head and fitting a greaser head...

@@optiplexpavel haha, I had a feeling this squirting grease down the shaft thing was a scam... I hate having to reengineer everything.... here because they saved 6 cents on a little bolt...

I believe the echo SRM 225 model, after 50 operating hours, recommends you also Grease the flexible cable inside the shaft. is that a requirement for Stihl as well?

@@webberalex9533 Some weed eaters have a cable that runs the length of the weed eater shaft to your weed eater head that requires grease. Hope this helps?

Can’t you drill out the side and tap it. Then just put in a bolt with a washer?

I can't get the 2nd screw off. My drill won't even remove it. Tried some wd40. Now it's kinda stripped, any recs for how to loosen this? Seems like it's freaking welded on or something.
