About twelve years ago Marvel decided to take a chance on a film version of a character that had been a continual second stringer with little public recognition when they made Iron Man. Fast forward to today and most fans of the MCU probably have no idea how disregarded that character was. DC needs to take a chance on some off the wall stuff, and most of all get talented screen writers and directors and not censor them into vanilla obscurity. If they made a decent Swamp Thing or The Demon movie I'd be first in line. Metal Men would be awesome, too.

I don't know if I am working in a movie studio I would be very skeptical with all those ideas. there's definitely some hidden gems but does need quite a bit of reworking. I think The Metal men and Booster Gold, while they are interesting characters they just don't have that charm for a standalone movie. Unless they follow the Marvel formula where they sort of introduce the characters in other DC movies to generate interest and then do their own spin-off. A great example is kind of like Martian manhunter if you do a stand-alone comic book or stand-alone movie it's a tough sale. Not that he's not interesting character it's just how the character works. I'm sure there are movie makers that can prove me wrong. I just don't have any ideas to introduce these characters to the audience in a way that would excite them. But then again there were quite a few Marvel movies that in my opinion were terrible but end up selling very well So what do I know :)

Scott, I'm sure you will have plan to do a video about the backstory of the Green Lantern movie line. and other DC movie lines. I love the sculpts for the movie 6-in green lantern Movie Masters line. But for some reason the articulation was so so bad..... Like the joints were there but there have like 20% range..... I just don't understand it. and the ball joints heads are pretty much like a cut joint that can move left or right.... barely move up and down. it's like the toy designer had no thought put into it. I was actually very disappointed cuz I really enjoyed the sculpts and also had high hopes for the movie when you do do you mind explaining why the Dark Knight movie masters figures we're so bare bone they came with zero accessories. I personally consider a Batman figure without a batarang pretty much a crime. And as a collector line instead we got these evidence package which was very silly....

You've gone into this topic in the past, and I'll say what I said then again. I think you're putting the cart ahead of the oxens when you say: "We should make a movie based on this property, because it has great toy-etic properties!" There are many things to consider before making such a decision, and the biggest obstacle of course, and you mentioned it, so kudos for that, is that you take these properties to executives, they ask if people know about it, you say that's it's not really popular, and may in fact be actually obscure, and 70% of the battle is lost right there. I also find it almost a contradiction that you say that movie toylines live and die on the success of the film, and yet it feels like you're basically saying that having great toys will help the movie being successful. I totally see your argument that the more toy-etic a property is, the more toys, and more interesting toys you can make of it, but I don't think that will translate into box-office success.

The Dinosaurs line is a great idea. Only problem I have with it is that it'll only be at 1:18 scale at most to be viable. That's ok for the dinosaur figures, but not for the soldiers. That scale for human figures aren't as appealing anymore except for vintage-influenced collectors. The current standard right now is 1:12 scale, but that would make the dinosaurs expensive. One way I can think of is to make the human soldiers available at retail a la GI Joe Classified, as well as some dinos, such as velociraptors and pterodactyls (which would make good army builders). Then make larger dinos like T-Rex and Triceratops available to specialty shops. The largest ones, like Brontosaurus, can be made something like a crowdfunder, similar to what Hasbro did with the Sail Barge and Sentinel. Heck, I'm actually surprised Mattel hasn't thought of this one yet. I feel that will do well against GI Joe Classified and Valaverse's Action Force. The human soldiers alone would do great, especially if they do figures from different time periods. They'd have no problems with the dinosaurs as they can just upscale their Jurassic Park ones. They even made a 1:12 T-Rex already.

Yeah I think thid id one of the things that the JP line does struggle with. To make dinosaurs and figures in scale would take really big dinos. Maybe they can be shrunk down with a martian shrinking ray or something or use little army men for the figures!

@@spectorcreative1872 were you still with Mattel when they released that Super Colossal Tyrannosaurus Rex? That was an absolutely epic toy, to be honest and worth the purchase. Toy retailers here in the Philippines didn't carry it (even our local TRU) so we had to import it and had it shipped via ocean freight. But if that didn't do well, then there might be no chance of us seeing 1:12 dinos again 😥 I was actually bummed when their next "colossal" dinosaurs was a 1:18 scale brontosaurus.
